ok.. i made this quick and very crappy diagram... i just wanted to know if it was correct and if anything is wrong with it....
i know where the wastegate would go... but where would the BOV go?.. and also does it matter which side of the intercooler is the inlet and outlet?? please feel free to re-edit this picture..

I see that your MAF is on trhe wrong side, it should stay where your intake is, on the filter. Another thing the BOV can go on the IC piping, you could put it coming right off of the intercooler right behind the bumper, or you could put it up under the hood.

Would it be any more efficient having the BOV closer to the intake manifold? Wouldn't it vent air farther from the turbo? Also, not to nitpick, but I just wanted to let you know, those images would be about 4kb if they were gifs :)

wouldnt the blow off valve vent vacuum better if it were closer to the throttle? long before it gets back to the turbo... after the intercooler so it doesnt collide with compressed air? or am i loopy...

Here's the pic man. I've renamed the inlet and outlet correctly, and placed the BOV in the right place.
Transient. It was 39k as a JPEG, and 42k as a GIF.

Sure, probably would be, I'm just saying thats where it could go, but thats refering to my RB, but then I noticed that my intake manifold goes over the top, so it is closer to the manifold:rolleyes: What a moron huh?

It doesn't matter. But when air enters an intercooler through a side, that side becomes the "inlet" side. When it exits the intercooler, that side is the "outlet" side.

Yeah, I actually tried it out myself. It took me a minute or so, but I got it down to 10k. You're right though, I did have to mess with it a little. Rule of thumb: Cartoon = Gif, Photo = Jpg

BOV's are more efficient closest to the intercooler:)

why vent the cooled air post-IC??? I'd rather send warmed up air back through the loop rather then the cooler air. Unless maybe your running an open BOV?

Huh? Venting cooled air post-ic is what you do. Sending warmed up air thru the loop?? What loop? Open BOVs just vent to the atmosphere.
The idea is for a fast reacting bov, catching the air when it hits the throttle body and changes directions. Also, venting cool air means that the intercooler is still full of pressure, and you won't have nastly lag refilling it.

ok, think of it like this... you have pressurized air running into your throttle body at 8 pounds let say... now when your throttle plate closes, are you going to want to vent the air before the intercooler (hot air, not by the TB) or after the intercooler (boosted air, close to tb)? when you close your throttle plate, that boosted air will cause surge because it has no where to go. so you want to put the BOV by the TB (after the intercooler) so you don't get that surge and damage your intercooler and TB. thats pretty much how it works, hope it cleared things up instead of confused you all, lol. :D
