2 days ago, on the 101 freeway, in camarillo.

i was driving home and i saw strobe lights in the back and CHP's behind them. Infront of them i saw a 240sx all the way in the front, s13, and i saw a celica, i think i might of saw an eclipse spyder as well.

I'm guessing these "undercover cops" are looking for street racers to race, and one they do race, their gonna get pulled over. I drove by them and then i exited and came back the other way, and basically drove by it like 3 times because i was curious, i've heard about it but never actually seen one happen, on the second way back i saw them searching the vehicles, and thats basically all i saw, just a warning!

california is getting gay! :(

i don't street race, i just like driving fast, Lol.
if one of them bastards ever pull up to me, i'll just rev at them, giving them signals that i'm gonna race em, then their gonna gun it and im gonna continue driving the same speed, that cop will look mighty dumb. LOL.

That sounds like entrapment. A CHP in his cruiser once asked me if I wanted to race as we were exiting the freeway. I told him that I would be beat him and he just smiled and drove off. True story.

"Entrapment is the act of a law enforcement agent inducing a person to commit an offense which the person would otherwise have been unlikely to commit. In many jurisdictions, entrapment is a possible defense against criminal guilt."

Only problem is, the unmarked Z33s aren't initiating a race. Just pacing.

The OP implied that these undercovers actually pull up to you and try to get you to race them. Believe it or not, revving is also considered "an exhibition of speed."

Every person who engages in or aids and abets any motor vehicle exhibition of speed on a street or highway is guilty of a violation of California Vehicle Code ยง23109 (c), a misdemeanor. An exhibition of speed is a willful act of showing off or displaying a dangerous and imprudent speed where the presence of another person is known to the driver or may reasonably be anticipated by him.

thanks ray, i was going to post the same concepts but u beat me to it. entrapment, and that revving is also illegal.

i actually got pulled over today, i was quite worried because i did nothing illegal so i knew i was pulled over for loud exhaust, which would lead to a hood popping. but after license and registration he told me to have a nice day and because i cooperated. and as he was leaving he says " i pulled u over for that muffler." didnt ask me to get it fixed or anything i thought it was kinda funny. but i got lucky once again. thanks world.

They have them down here in SD too. Normal cars following/pacing you then there goes the strobe headlights and taillights.

wtf does a "gangsta ride" have anything to do with undercover police looking for races?

I have a similar story, where I was driving home from picking up parts in the san bernardino area and a cop pulled up beside me at a red light and started asking me about D1. He then said, "you have my permission to get on it" The light turned green, and I fuckin gunned it. That cop was left in the dust. But THENNNNN I stopped at the next red light, cop pulls up beside me, waves, then runs the red light and takes off.

Moral: Some cops are cool, most cops are dicks.
I'm sorry to hear that these undercover cops are driving blendable vehicles to the racing scene, but then again, street racing is dangerous, illegal, and just plain idiotic. Keep it on the tracks. Maybe cops will be less harsh eventually, and maybe one day not hassle non street racing track drifters using drift cars as dd's. I mean, drifting is still dangerous, but on a track you don't necessarily have to worry about killing someone, OR GOING TO JAIL, or in my opinion worse than that, having that beautiful little ride, you've spent so much time and money working on, CRUSHED!

Just my 2 cents.

dang... its almost like that show "To Catch a Predator" with Chris Hansen... but street car version.

I understand the entrapment laws that protect the individuals, but I don't understand how shows like To Catch a Predator succeed.

I see, i guess no playing around with them then ahaha, i don't street race so i don't got nothing to worry about.

i also thought they were using entrapment, they can't be trapping you, their suppose to show themselves thats what someone told me.

it was pretty crazy though, didn't think it was true haha.

i dont street race either, so i got nothing to worry about.. wouldn't it be funny to see this scenario on the freeway? *you see in your rear view mirror, 2 cars weaving in and out of traffic. Swerving in and out of lanes, blows by you at 120 mph. Then, the car thats behind, suddenly turns on some strobe lights!!! WAHAHAHAHA!!!* I have had always wished for this to happen everytime i see people racing on the freeway..

It's not entrapment if a police officer pretends to be a whore or a drug dealer or a 13 year old on the internet because the only people who meet up with these people are looking to get laid or score drugs or touch kiddies.

They were actively looking to commit a crime.

mad undercover cops everywhere, if you drive like a dumb shit on public roads or "professionally closed tracks that are only open at 4am" you deserve to get your shit pushed in by the PD. I've worked way too hard to get "street cred" from some high school kids.

I've done my time street racing, and having a misdemeanor on your record and having it interfere with getting JOBS is a real eye opener. The 2 grand you lose on top of that and the points on your license or the possibility of losing it.

Yeah fuck fun, I'll keep my car from the crusher or some asshole fanboi at the impound yard.

I guess people don't read the threads these days. I honestly didn't know revving at a cop was considered an exhibition of speed until 1five10's response.

i responded with

"Lol how funny.

1. Yes I am young, also loving it!
2. I did sound stupid, but I'm not perfect, I learn, and corrected myself.
3. I'm doing just fine on Zilvia.
4. I hope you have an amazing day! because I am :)

why are we even arguing?

just dont fucking street race...lol

That's what I'm trying to say.

I had my share of street racing when i got my first car 300zx, and my second car audi 1.8t, but when I got my 240 I still raced, but not as crazy, and as i got older, i grew out of it and learned it's not worth it. i learned my lesson awhile back racing someone and getting caught, luckily cop let me go, never raced again.

looking forward to some track time though!

That's what undercover stings are all about. My brother in law is a Cop, my next door neighbor is a Sheriff and the neighbor behind me is in SWAT, so I am always picking their brains about all this shit.

If a undercover cop entices you to race and you race him, he's going to bust you no matter what. That's where we all get screwed up the ass.

To defend yourself in court because of entrapment is going to cost some serious money because of lawyer fees and court fees. Most people will choose to plea bargain because of the costs. In the end, you wind up where you started, with the ticket and all the fees that go with it.

If the case does go to court, you're in deeper shit, because "street racers" and racing is always associated with accidents and deaths, so the chances of getting off the hook is slim to none.

I see, nice information, i would of never known. thanks.

don't do the crime if you can't do the crime Lol.

some cops are dicks though, some are cool, i remember getting pulled over for no reason, i'm fully stock! and he was giving me a hard time harassing me, asking me 100 times " have you been to jail " etcetc. this was from a chp, and the guy talking to my friend on the passenger side talked about putting a jdm motor in his honda. i told him that was illegal and he said no its not lool.

funny, I got pulledd over too recently and it was kind of the same experience. I was just a lil over the speed limit, enough to get nabbed. So mr.officer did the typical 5 block sweat you/run your plates followed by the lights in rearview. mechanical error was the issue. after runnning my info, he told me "im young and clean driving record." before he left he asks "you running an SR in this?" I said "nah" with a smile. The he goes "I better not catch you drifting" laughs, and dips out.

so I agree with you, thanks world

Speaking of UC cops, had one flip a u-turn turn and get on my ass omw home from my friend's house (1/2 a block lol).

But I've seen this cop a lot and he's seen me a lot too, always late night. So I doubt he thinks I street race because we see each other almost every night.
