Hey Guys,

Just wondering what you guys though about those cheapo mufflers being "clearanced" out on the ebay.

I'm like to pay the least but get decent quality stuffs. I'm not gonna waste $$$ for something brand name and still get the job done.

Let em' rip guys! Haha

Thanks,

The ebay exhausts arnt too bad when it comes to performance, i have a buddy that has one and hes never had any issues..
But if you going to put the money into your car, "name brand" in this hobby/sport = very good performance..

I would highly recomend the Buddy Club Speck II..
Its pretty much a streight pipe with a resonator, so its louder than the average exhaust..But i swear by it..
:D

Quality is pretty hit and miss. My buddy had one that was pointed slightly DOWNWARD and slightly toward the passenger side. Like they set the jig up wrong or something while welding it up. It looked retarded. lol

That's the thing though, I dunno if they are quality or not? Hard to believe it's only $100. :barf:

I got mine for $60! I love it, and the quality actually rocks!

As stated the quality is hit or miss but the most common complaint I have heard is that tone can be quite raspy.

Even if it is raspy, for 100 bucks, just chop off the shit muffler that comes with it and weld a good one on there.

Seriously, 100 bucks is worth it just for the piping.

^^^ i myself have bought a cxracing catback(egay catback) it sounds decent and for 120$ shipped 3" catback you cant beat it. But for my s14 i bought a used yoshio factory catback and WOW the yf sounds x10 better then the ebay one. My point is that the high end ones sound alot better. i dont know if its the type of metal that is used or the bends or what but from my experince hks, greedy, etc sound better then ebay.

Brand name would be like hks, greddy, apexi Big names like that. Catbacks that are in the 500+ price range.

Ebay muffler packing is trash. That's why alot of them sound like shit, especially over time when the packing wears out.

Not all of them have the BEST FIT either. It's worth the extra money sometimes to go brand name to save yourself the headache of listening to that rasp shit that sounds like you have an exhaust leak or trying to cut, fit, cut, fit, cut, fit and reweld.

It's definately HIT OR MISS. They have no QA/QC. That's why.

My friend's apexi exhaust fit like shit with new insulators, so i guess they are all hit or miss.

The packing is worthless and will burn out quickly. I even saw one that had no packing in it. Just a perforated tube.

Fitment is in the ballpark but not always 100%. Mostly they don't protect them well in shipping and the hangers get jacked up.

If you need something now get it then measure the dimensions of the resonator and muffler. Then when they burn out in 6 months you can order replacements from magnaflow and have them welded in place.

That ebay link is probably going to be taken down.
He is not trying to sell it. Just using it as an example. We have a problem with people link spamming their ebay sales.

brand names are the best but i have experience with ebay mufflers and they are not that bad just when your are welding it they get soft pretty fast because the metal is not that strong but you can never go wrong with name brands.....thats my personal opinion though but with most people know a days money is tight so go with what you can work with?!

I have an eBay exhaust as well. It sounds rather well, but it is quite loud, and drones very badly at 2.5-3k. Other than that you cant go wrong with it, $150 3" exhaust with test pipe.
