....along with a few others and have not found a definitive answer. O.K. I have a 92 with a SR swap, 5sp.,and an auto ecu (#63 i believe) and have at my wits end as to which sensor on the transmission itself I have to unplug to eliminate the top speed limiter and what I estimate to be 128mph or so. I do not want to disconnect the actual speed sensor itself as I want to see how fast I'm actually going nor do I want to have a cel come on either. I just want to know exactly which one of the sensors that IS the 5th gear sensor from someone that ACTUALLY KNOWS. I see alot of posts with speculation. If need, I'll crawl underneath my car and take a pic of the transmission and post it up and someone can circle the one I need to disconnect. Will anyone please chime in as to how to proceed? This is kicking my ass.:smash:

That particular trick only works for the KA, Doing it to the sr 62ecu will put your ecu into some kind of limiter...IIRC at like 5500rpm the gradually gets lower to about 3500rpm sucks.

I've heard, never tried the 63ecu. IIRC, it doesn't have the limiter for rev and speed.
The first thing that worked for me was a pivot speed meter X old rare JDM!
Still use it to display my speed in kilometers, 400m traps etc.
I now have a flashed ECU no speed limit or 500kmph

Get an fsm! you can disconnect all the sensor on the tranny except for the VSS it's not going to work like you want it to. VSS disconnected = no speed limit but Rev limit kicks in lower, plus you can't verify the burying of the needle.
HYU.

Ok. Im fukn confused (ez to do). I took some pics of transmission and see which one is the VSS (pretty obvious) and 2 other sensors in which the rear furthest one is already disconnected and the furthest foreward one is not. Now, I have never hit the rev limiter in 4th gear. Could the one unplugged be that one and the other be the 5th gear one? Or maybe the one plugged in is the one for my reverse lights? All 3 of the sensors are on the passenger side of the transmission. Here's some pics.

I also read that none of the sensors will correct the problem other than the VSS itself which is not an option and that cutting a wire on the ecu will take care of my issue. Well I just happened to take some pics of said ecu and wire harness on both sides. Is there anybody "in the know" that would enlighten me as to which wire to cut?

This does not work correctly for the SR
Vss is pin 32 y\g
GTF' FSM

This thread http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/110866-speed-limiter-question-again.html says the Y/G wire does not help the problem on an SR trans. And I do have the Auto transmission to boot. IDK.

There is no 5th gear sensor on the SR Transmission. You have the VSS and the Reverse plugged in and the Neutral sensor unplugged. Unplugging that will just eliminate you reverse lights.

The Auto ECU still has a 110mph speed limiter. No Rev limiter. Cutting the VSS will throw a code in the ECU and make it turn on a Rev limiter. Flashed EPROM, standalone or speed cut box are your only options.

Thank you!!!! That's exactly what I was looking for. And thats exactly what
I was coming up with when you verified it. Thank you again.
