Help Asap

I have water in My taillights, How do i get the water out and stop this from happening again? Please help ASAP I am affraid things might to short out. HELP

u Should put this in the "Tech Talk" section, but iz ok, I'm sure a mod will move it.

as for your lights, do you have a hatch or coupe?
Either way, the easiest way to fix it is the obvious step of removing the lights and finding out where you have a hole for water to enter, fill it with silicon or some other sealant and you're good to go. :)

Thanks but can you give me a little more info. I have the Hatchback, and have taken the nuts off the back of the screws but the taillights still don't want to come out. Any other ideas?

If you're sure you've gotten all the hardware out, just start pulling, they're held on with that black tar/tacky material that's used to seal them on, it takes a little effort (and you'll need to get new sealant, or be REALLY careful and re-use the old seal, but I wouldnt recommend it).

They're on there pretty good with the elephant snot (black stuff), just work at it a bit.

sometimes the hole is soo small that you cant even see it, and it fills with water b/c of slow condensation.

if so pull ur taillights off and follow the directions on this website (http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/headlights/index.html) for heating up the tailights as to loosen the glue. after pulling the lens off clean and reseal with nice clear silicone or soemthing.. ths website should help

Alright got the taillights out and a thick bead of silicone around pretty much every where i could think of that water would get in. Did a water test on everything as well and there are no more leaks. WooHOO. THanks Guys
