Hey i just got my 240. It is a 1992 notchback and I have a full RB26 setup(engine, turbos, suspension, etc...), and S15 conversion. My question is can anybody get me pictures of the Importfan Light conversion. My fenders fit like crap and I need to see if I am missing something, or am i going to have to make my own fenders. Any help will be appreciated.

Importfan doesn't have any help. Ted took his car to a shop to have them do the work and Jose (the guy that did it) no longer works there. The people at importfan have no answers for me. I can do the customizing myself but I wanted to know what exactly I am getting into first.

As for the RB, its a long story on how I got the engine & components, but now that I have them I am finding this damn conversion to be almost impossible on my budget. If tere is any help for the project my shop is located in Oroville, CA pm me and come take a look.

And the second turbo is an upgrade that one of the companies I talk to sait it would be tter for the engine.

If there is anybody that has this conversion help me through it...please.

Are Kookaburraz and I the only ones that think this dude is from the Looney Bin?

Ohh yeha... R-chassis suspension. WHAT the HELL off of an R-chassis will go get to fit our cars? They have modified double wishbone up front, AWD ATESSA, etc...

, and S15 conversion. My question is can anybody get me pictures of the Importfan Light conversion.
What is the Light conversion? Is that like Diet Coke or Slim Fast Shakes?

My fenders fit like crap and I need to see if I am missing something, or am i going to have to make my own fenders. Any help will be appreciated.
Missing something? What kind of fenders do you have? if they are the S13-S15 "conversion" fenders, there is nothing more to get. If you simply have S15 fenders you will need to use the front half of those and weld them into the back half of the 13's. AKA a SH_Tload of work.

Not to be disrespectful, but it seams that you are:
a.) Bullsh_tting us
b.) in over your head... who gets involved with a full RB26DETT setup and is on a strict budget? seems to me you just got out of the crazyhouse and are coming here to rile some feathers. Or you don't know how to be cohernt and you sound like a newbie trying to convince people he has an RB... whatever dude...whatever.

How is the clearance between the steering shaft and the TWIN turbos and their downpipes? Or are you using a single top-mounted turbo? WHat turbo is it? What FMIC are you running? How did you wire it into the S13 harness? What kind of gauge cluster are you running? What driveshaft are you running? Are you using the RB25DET tranny? or do you have the RB26-TT tranny and running AWD  ? Can you answer any of my questions?

Also, what crossmember did you use? How did you ge the "RB's suspension" to fit? Was it front or rear? How did you make the Rchassis front suspension fit? What did you do about the strut tower and the bolt pattern? What EXHAUST are you running? I mean I can claim that I have a VQ30DETT in my car and that I need some suggestions on stuff but if I can't back it up when asked to....

Also, do you have any pics? If you do, I WOULD be interested in seeing them, nice cars are always good to see. RB26's rock our socks.

This reply is not in defense of, it's only a statement of what I've seen, that it can be done and what's needed to make it happen...
As far as an RB swap goes, it can be put in an S13. The only mod's that have to be done really are the cross-member, needs to be manufactured. Unless there's a company out there making them now but last I knew it was all home made. Then with the exhaust/ turbos setup, here stateside, it would 'have to' be top mount. Now, whether you running single or double, I don't know. Running double, is stock, not an upgrade. The only modifications that I saw and worked with was that the firewall needed to be worked over and the engine/ transmission connection sits back further inside the car. With that connection, the transmission mount/ support needs to be fabricated. You do need an RB mission to go with the engine. As far as the wiring harness, you'd need the RB harness and splice it into the S13 harness. All in all the worst part about it is getting the mounts manufactured and then messing with the firewall. Then, the only other thing would be the wiring, if you're not very good at it. When I was overseas, there was a guy I knew that blew a LOT of cash into getting it done and he has nothing but problems with it. There was always something breaking. It can be done, but it turns into an expensive ride to keep up.

I do not have this stuff on the car it is at my shop...the engine is being sen to a race shop to be rebuilt and the upgraded turbo put on...sorry to stir you guys up its not a tt setup or on the car yet I am doing the conversions now. and the cook out is open to all who would like to come and see the shop and our widebodys. We build crazy showcars and parts for race companies such as DH racing (Dave Hickman)and others in the upper standings. We do any body mods, install engine swaps, and custom suspensions. I just wanted to know what a good time frame for this is b/c i am giving the finished car to my wife as a present. and i need a time frame for birthday or Xmas. Once again the engine may be here another week but no longer(sending out for rebuilds and upgrades) but everything else will be here. As for the looneyhouse our shop will show you what we do(current project consists of a 600bhp 1995 Ford Probe 2.0...supercharging and turboing(M90sc and Garrett T04E Turbo) with full carbon fiber body...widend 8" all the way around. Any help with the 240 is appreciated thanks

why the crap would you do that to a ford probe? those things are hideous.

and whats this whole deal with "upgrading" to two turbos? what are you smokin?

Crofty59
03-22-2003, 07:12 PM
Probe is not upgraded to 2 turbos...its superchargered and turboed, and Just b/c you think they don't look or work that well doesn't mean you have to bash it. We all get cars we can afford and then fix them up. I will never buy a car I will not fix up.
As for the 240 Help not hinduerences would be appreciated

I don't know if those are your pics or not, but doesn't the engine you have a pic of say RB25?

i like the MX6 bumper... off of the car. It looks (no offense) like the Saleen S17. Cool. But it does not fit on an MX6. It would look better on a Ferrari or MR2 Turbo (older one). Oh and I think the Bomex S15 front end is hideous. But that is my opinion.... I hope you don't care. Because if you are building a car b/c of someone else liking (besides your wife, since its her present) then you should not build the car. Make it how you (or she) wants it. Anyway... Ahh I don't know what to say.

Oh ruf reply meant go with a T51 i think (turbo).

Dorifto180sx thanks for your input. The front is just to get the lights in. If you see the rim in the picture you will notice the extended width. I am making it a widebody. And the t51 i thought was a turbo too but hey I am not an engine man just, interior exterior. I leave the engines up to people who know them. So once again thanks for the post but i still need help on if i should just mate the s15 fiberglass fenders to my stock cf fenders....? anyones help is appreciated

also the mx6 front was made from a picture of a saleen s7 hence the resemblance, and your right after i made the molds i put the first part on a car and i like the from scratch aspect but the flow on the car is way off

Are you making a better front end for the S15? That would be sick. Let me know if you are doing that, i would like to see some designs of it, or if you want, I can sketch out a few concepts and you could consider them. I think that would be super cool. Here is an album to some car drawings. I have some more I need to scan tonight, so later today there will be some interiors and a few better exterior designs. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290652493&idx=1

Anyway, like I said, I will add to that later today.

As for the fenders,if you have 2 seperate units, teh s13 and the s15's, tehn you should do something resembling the following: if they are both CF or FRP ( I guess any resin based composite), cut each of them at just about the peak of the wheel arch. You will then join them together (Layer some more CF or kevlar or fiberglass, epecially on the reverse side). of course it wont be perfect, but after you play with it and take off, add more material where needed, you will have a good fitting fender.

What wheels do you have? You know... Volk GTN's or GTC's or TE37's come in very wide sizes with low offset (same with Work wheels like Richard aka JDMRice) Volks TE's or GT's in 18x10.5's with a +12 or something... that is where its at!:D

Crofty59

i am making a whole new kit. I think you are on the right track too with cutting them b/c I just can't get them to fit. not hard just time consuming...

As for the wheels I have my own wheels, as in my company name. They are called kaotic tarums and are for a five lug conversion with the 300zx and are 10.5" wide as seen in the picture

thanks for your help
