Anybody KNOW the disadvantages of a lightened pully? I have heard it causes vibrations or something that makes your engine die 20% faster or something like that. Does anybody know for sure about this? If so, can you explane in detail what this does to damage the engine? Also how much hp does it give you? 5-10?

I've heard bad things about underdrive pulley's.  People over heating their engines.  I know it makes your engine rev more, but does anyone have any feedback who is using one.

The unorthadox UD pulley doesn't have a harmonic balancer.  This causes the crankshaft to vibrate and supposedly causes very bad things on the long haul.  The few people that I know have them seem to like them and I hadn't heard of any bad reports, yet.  I still don't think the risk justifies what gains you might get from it.

i've had my asp pulley on for 6 months now. got it for 120 shipped. at first i didn't notice the difference. then after i drove it for a few days it seemed more responsive and was quicker to rev. it's kinda like the difference in driving with the AC on and off. i have had no problems with the pulley, i've put over 15k miles on the car with it on. my personal opinon is it's worth the money.

Nobody has any proof that underdrive pulley's will destroy crank bearing (i think thats what supposedly go's bad) Out of the masses of people with UD pulley's most have a good view of them and I can't think of one case of a engine needing rebuilt cause of a UD pulley causing damage. I have no doubt that it is not the "safest" upgrade but  it is a negliable (spelling?) risk.

I agree. My boyfriend has a UO one on his car, and I noticed a difference on it just after driving it for a couple of minutes. I'm not even a daily driver, I think it's dope and definitely plan to do it on my S13.

I haven't heard any complaints from the Nissan camp, but it did cause this on a Honda H22 engine...it's the main bearings after a few thousand miles of street driving.  Maybe it's a freak occurance, but...aahhh I don't care, I don't think the UO UD pulley will fit on the motor I'm getting anyway.:)

Lance the key word in your post --HONDA. hahaha your right I never heard of a bearing getting stripped in a Nissan.

yeah, I know it's a Honda, but it still makes me a bit apprehensive about the product.
