yeah 500 dollar honda then give us the rest....
its cheaper to buy a stockish car and then do the swap... most of the time

With 9k you could just buy a honda and do a K20 swap. jk
Its better to just buy a 240 with a KA and do a SR swap.

If you have 9k, why not buy a Z33?

Get away from a 20 year old chassis and move onto something newer.

forreals though, thats whatsup. I guess it also depends on your intentions? do you want a street/break-peoples-neck ride, a track car, a lil bit of both, etc, etc. So you really got to think bout your intentions.

personal preference.
just get what you like.

in reality, none of us are going to care what you get.
its YOUR car.

its not going to make you any more or less cooler if you pick whichever chassis.
make up your own mind.

im with crimson on this one. but if you really wanted to build your own then id say get a s14 kouki. you wont have much left. dont buy another persons project.

Yes dont buy another build car, build it yourself :) s13 you can get alot more parts for cheaper, s14 parts are a lil more expensive and not as many show up on the zilvia fs thread ha ha ha, i have owned both, i personnaly love my s14 over the s13's i had, s14 feels more comfortable and such for daily driver, i do miss my s13's tho, its love hate ha ha ha, get the one that feels right to ya, or just dive in and buy one!!! GL do some research and find one the best fits you...

it sounds like you're basing a lot of your decision on the mere look of the car. since that's the case, why even bother asking for our opinions?? just get what YOU want, not what other people think you should get

Don't ask others to decide for you. Get what you think is the best fit for YOU.
And like stated above! Not too many 14 parts on the FS threads! xD

just a couple of my team mates.
You need a seperate car for drift and one for daily.

You have the money for a S14 daily car, on lowering springs.
And build a S13 drift car. (sportmax wheels, megan/godspeed coils, welded diff, ebay steering wheel, knock off seat, 5 point harness, SR swap, ruca, tie rods,
done and done.

you dont need anything more than a stock intercooler or blow off for stock SR btw.
(will need a intercooler for long session grip events, but not SCCA.

i'd say s14 because i'm partially biased. but my friend has an s13 and i driven it before local streets. it's alright, but if you go for s13, ditch the OEM seats!

well most of you guys said to go for a mostly stock car, and do a swap on my own. so ill take that into consideration. now which of the two would be a better car to work on for a newb like me.

well if you can't work on cars then you might consider getting a S14 since it won't be as old as the S13's. But nevertheless your looking at cars that's at least 15yr old car, they are going to need work.

ericcastro
04-15-2009, 12:32 PM
I think they are generally the same to work on.

S13's are cheaper and have alot mroe parts available.

And you can find mroe of them in the junkyards.

Plus, If you crash it drifting, your not out as much money

Well first you live in Indiana so you won't hav to pass emissions on a OBD1
car right? I would say get a real nice s13. With 9k you can buy a beast of a s13 with some nice wheels to. If you like s14 then go with a 95 Zenki you can always do a fornt end swap to it. But if i were you i would go with a SR/RB swapped car. KA's are real nice when done right but those are hard to find. And having a SR/RB is a good modifying start if you don't wanna build a bottom end. Put it this way with that 9k you can either A. Buy a lightly modifyied to stock kouki, or B. get a 400hp s13 with suspension, interior, aero, paint and brakes. So do you wanna show or do you wanna go?
