hey, dudes.

you should pick up all the canadian plastics for the conversion

Brian
04-14-2009, 05:32 PM
Yes yes, that would be nice, but I am looking for SLIM to NO price on this.

Do I have to get a longer bolt and "spacers" too?

I used a Z32 upper mounting bolt and added two washers equaling about 1/4in.

I made a 3/4in hole under the middle mounting tab on the back of b pillar plastic then shaved off the mounting tab.

Total cost: $0:bigok:

hmm, so with something like that, I am assuming it was created with a longer bolt and some spacers.

I guess that's what I should have done.
Shit.

Brian

Mr. Mike McGarrett.

Can you get me some of those bolts?

and... maybe some new B pillar plastics?

:)

Brian
04-14-2009, 05:52 PM
Upon closer inspection, it seems that if I space it out that far, it will be VERY close (if not touching) the main hoop of the cage....

MrMcgarrett
04-14-2009, 05:55 PM
Who's Mike? lol

I can get them for you.

Brian

Whenever I see your screenname, I imagine lots of "M" sounds, so I figured Mr. Michael McGarrett would be a funny name.

then you should get some door welt and cut it down to go around the edges of the hole area then it would look very close to original JDM

Its actually next on my list as well.

04-14-2009, 10:06 PM
1. Go to auto wrecker
2. get seatbelts of right color, and the clicky thing the seatbelt goes into. From ANY VEHICLE.
3. Bet the correct thread bolt, and bolt that shit on, then deal with the plastic. You don't need s14 seatbelts...take them off any vehicle.

do you want me to take a pic of my hardware? i just pulled all the interior out of my s14 for a cage. i can show you excactly what the bolt setup looks like if you want but i'll have to take the pic tomorrow. but basically they just use spacers from the factory about 10mm (yes very big)

Sentra belts work fine too, but you do need longer bolts with any belt you use since the panel is so far away from the chassis. I just buy them at the hardware store when I've done the swap for people.

Brian

FYI - I already have belts. That is not the issue.

I was just wondering how some of you may have modified your USA B pillar plastics.

Brian,
I have a piece that that will make the cutout a little cleaner. But it depends on how much material/shape you cut off. I'll try to take a pic tonight, just have to find it lol.

Oh yea, and I have this still waiting for you........

Wouldn't spacers and extended studs be weaker? Wouldn't want my belt to rip off the car in a wreck. Maybe I'm off, just a thought.

I know for a fact eclipse, s12, and protege belts work. Don't have to limit yourself to just s14 belts.

Brian
04-15-2009, 06:09 PM

fuck THAT.

^ great

i did what the second guy did, back when i had those seatbelts + interior. i ditched all that shit, rollbar and schroth rallye cross harnesses.

when i ran s14 belts, i made a hole, longer bolt, spacer, and cover. worked like a charm.

I want more info on this. What did you use to line that hole? Looks like some kind of plastic insert? I've been holding off putting mine back on because I didn't want to cut a hole and miss, then have to replace them.

EDIT - Also, from what I read around on the internet when I did this swap in my coupe (god the auto belts suck. I remember mine catching passengers and getting them stuck lol), almost all Honda belts will work in the s13. Go find an old mid 90s civic, there was a billion of around.

They do and the idea is not so much to get them with the whole b pillar but the b pillar trim. A lot of guys in Canada don't want to try and ship the whole b pillar because they are lazy.

If you can get them to ship you that trim piece? Then you can modify your USDM b pillar.

Q45 belts fit perfectly.

No need for any spacers or extended bolts. Way better than S14 belts.

I like the stock automatic ones though, for that futuristic technology of the 80s feel.

They are S14 seat belts. You could practically use any seat belt as long as you can modify the bracket to bolt on. Then again, I wouldn't want to rely on something hacked up for my safety.

My girlfriend used to do that shit in my G20, she finally stopped doing that. AUTO BELTS BLEH.

The last car I owned that didn't have auto belts was like 6 years ago... :-/ FML.
