Look at these fucking cars? They make me want to masturbate. Why is this shit not televised here? We don't get to see this awesome ass racing but we get gay ass Nascar!?

I can't even imagine why anyone would rather see Nascar cars racing over these bad MF'S!

Can anyone enlighten me why we don't get to see this or maybe tell me if I'm missing something?

seriously retarded...nascar is such a bore to me...

Speed channel doesn't show it?

I guess their just happy showing the same muscle car builds.

They used to show it.

Speed Channel used to show DTM races, Australian V8 Super Car races, BTCC races, and I think at one point they showed JGTC races.

They also used to have programs for the WRC races all the way up to like '07, then they took it off air.

Since Speed Channel is owned by Fox now, they shifted all their priority to nascrap, which gets the most views by the American audience, so they bumped the "useless" programs to bring you more nascrap related programs!

Honestly, I turn the TV on, and I check the channel guides to see what's on Speed, and it's usually either Pinks, Unique Whips, or some nascrap related program.

And you know what the funny thing is?

Our cable provider has 4 NASCRAP DEDICATED CHANNELS!!! Why are they taking up Speed Channel when there are DEDICATED channels for it already? Do nascrap fans really want to know what Michael Waltrip had for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

04-14-2009, 10:37 AM
nope. Theres two reasons why nascar is number one in the states. First they are seen as American muscle cars (even though they aren't all) and we don't want no jap crap rice rockets. Second America is the land of the lazy and "dumb it down". Nascar is lazy, dumbed down racing.

unfortunately i dont think anything ever happened, but the original owner of speed was working releasing a channel dedicated to motorsports with 0 nascar...but you can still get some roadracing on speed, just have to watch for it randomly in the middle of the day or at like 3am.

Yeah, I remember the WRC programs were always being shown at like 11pm or 12am on the weekends, and like DTM and Australian V8 Supercar races were always shown at oddball times of the day, like 10am to 1pm or something.

speedvision used to play all the cool shit. touring cup cars, BTCC, WRC, etc, etc, etc. it was the only channel the TV was even on at my house back then. they sold the channel to someone, and it was re named speed channel. and its utter shit. there have been petitions before, but with no results. its soooo frustrating that there is a channel dedicated to motorsports, but its pethetically boring. the only good automobile show that was on tv was that one where the guy drove these old ass race cars around the mountains and shit. they had amazing audio of all the cars as he drove them. i dont remember what it was called. but the best part is, it wasnt on speed IIRC. :D

just did some reading. apparently BMW was a big financial back for speedvision way back when. they had alot of BMW stuff on it. they even had a special that was dedicated to bmw's history in motorsports. kewl. i'd rather watch shit like that than fucking pinks or anything else on the channel now.

Actually Speed still does run WRC, DTM, GP2, American Le Mans etc.. its just at really odd hours of the day, randomly and usually not exactly prime time. They also show Superbike racing , MotoGP as well. Like someone said Nascar tends to bump a lot of this stuff into odd time slots because its the biggest money maker and fox is all over Nascar like flies on shit.

with racing series outside of the US, expect to come on during late night /morning hours, which probably have poor rating time slots for advertising.. And during the average times, theres american racing series to fill in the spots.. So its rare. We still got F1 though.

Does anyone even watch that superbikes and hot import nights bullshit? lol

Yes, the channel was sold to Fox, I believe. The series you are referring to was called "Victory By Design" and was hosted by Alain DeCadnet (sp?). It is readily available on youtube. I have NEVER come across an automotive program that had such spectacular sound either.

What do US F1 fans think of Speed? | F1 Fanatic - The Formula 1 Blog | F1 video | F1 pictures | F1 news | Lewis Hamilton | Fernando Alonso (http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2009/04/15/what-do-us-f1-fans-think-of-speed/)

The first is the issue of renewing the network’s contract with Formula 1 Management for the rights to broadcast the sport in the United States. According to various unofficial reports, the network’s three-year deal for broadcast rights is set to expire following the 2009 season, and as of this writing, no mention of a renewal has been made public. While a contract between the network and FOM may already be in place, no public word of such a deal seems to have come up.

What?

Their HD channel is exactly what's showing on their regular channel, just in HD form.

I'd know, I have both.

And I thought that F1 coverage in HD would be the best thing in the world since sliced bread, but it ain't all that.

They just take regular feed and blow it up into HD dimension, which makes it grainy and basically useless.

However, instead of broadcasting in stereo, they do have it in surround sound... which, if you ask me, I'd rather have a better picture than sound, as the stereo sound didn't sound that bad at all to begin with.

I swear to god if we lose F1 coverage as well, I'm just gonna drop cable altogether. We only watch a few shows on TV anyway, and I'm sure hulu will have them up a day or so later after it airs on TV, and my mother-in-law's husband has a DVR at his joint, so that's like $50 off of my shoulders every month.
