i searched a lot of threads, but still unclear. maybe i just don't get it.

On a redtop block, when you refer to the oil pressure switch, is that the plug on the left of the oil filter where a harness plugs into for oil light? Is this the same as the oil pressure sensor or where the stock sending unit is located? Is this the piece that you take off to put in the sender that comes with aftermarket gauges?

I'm trying to install a gauge and the sender that comes with it will not fit in that location because the oil filter is too big. (mobil 1 filters) also, i read that it's not safe to mount it directly to the block. do you just run some braided lines b/w the sender and the block?

yes thats where you put the oil pressure sender, if it doesnt fit in there either relocate it with some line or get a bitter quality gauge that has a smaller sender.

There's only one unit on the stock engine, it's called a sender or a switch because there's not a real gauge in the car. A sensor is a variable unit for a true gauge. If you can't fit the new piece in, run a length of braided hose, it's fine.
