ok so ill make it short and sweet.

the spring and retainer/washer thingy fell out of the bottom of my trunk. i called B&M and asked if they had those items for sale.
the guy askd me for my address and told me he would ship them out to me the following monday. within a week i got 2 springs 2 metal washer things, and the 2 retaining clips.

free.

i also had asked him about the 4 bolts that hold the shifter together, and he said he would ship those too. but i didnt get them unfortunately.

but shit, the postage was .76 cents. im not gonna complain. at all. just thought i would share this info with everyone so you know what kinda service to expect :) top notch shit. the only other time ive seen service like that was with a $3000.00 machine, a thingy broke, i called them, they shipped it to me within a week.

good to know b&m does that, as i have one of their shifters. also stance does that. they sent me 2 pillowball topmounts completely free of charge and shipping. they are super nice. gotta love companies that care about customers.

Hmmm... You must have talked to Drew. He's only person nice over there. I've talked to several other people and they were NOT nice. Their receptionist was rude too. I complained about the rattle noise from the shift and Drew sent me a replacement right away. I like their product, but I don't like people working over there except him.

Ravspec is the same way. i ordered a 60mm gauge and gauge cup i got a 60mm gauge but a 52mm gauge cup i called them up and had a new gauge cup with in 2days. Its good to know that B&m cares about the people who buys from them

glad to hear you have all had similar stories with companies. i grew up with no respect for companies. because i only dealt with big companieswho dont give a shit about the customer.

like ATT for example.

wow i had a horible experiance with both tein and sparco.

tein, i had mis placed the nuts for the outer tie rod ends. You cant buy those nuts if you wanted to. so after like 2-3 weeks on the phone with them back and forth i finaly got the dims to thouse nuts went and bought some from a hardware store... fucking next day found the nuts sigh.

sparco now holy shit was this bad. i bought a seat rail and bla bla bla. well i get the seat rail in the mail and go to bolt them into the car. well holy shit the holes were really far off, so much so that i couldnt bolt the rails down. after alot of phone calls countless emials with pics of the problem rail (no joke like 3 or 4 emails of the pics) and after 6+ MONTHS yes i said MONTHS... I finally got the damn rail at my door. needless to say i should have bought bride

I recently had a similar experience with Hotwires
ordered a set for my Corolla
the ignition wire was way too short
and also noticed that the wire lengths all were the same and a bit too long
took pictures and emailed them explaining my concerns

within hours had someone call me
I didn't notice the call and they left me a message
then they called me again
they wanted to talk to me in person so I could have
a perfect understanding of what my issues were
explained to me that the wires had to be a minimum length
in order to work right and said they'd make me the ignition wire
to the length I specified, had that in a few days
excellent experience.

had similar experiences with SPL

on the other hand, I've emailed large retailers and
big name companies with questions and never gotten answers

i remember calling b&m years ago because of the rattling issue, which they tried to pass off as normal because the shifter is so TIGHT that its allowing vibrations into the car............ pffft, yeah right. That's bullshit. Whats worse is he suggested I wrap the shift knob with electrical tape.

Seriously....................... electrical tape? Get the fuck outta here.

I then did my OWN fuckin R&D. I ditched their POS shift knob (2-piece at the time) where the cap would rattle. I also ditched the insert which slides onto the shifter to secure the shift boot, threw that in the fuckin trash. Guess what? Problem solved. Why not cut me a fuckin check and payable to: Mike Mamos / ClearCorners.Com?

Seriously, bunch of fuckers. So I called them BACK not to complain, but just to say "hey, i fixed your POS shifter.. might want to take some fucking notes for future customers/complaints and revise your fucking shifter!"

The conversation went something like this:

Me> Hi, I called a few days ago about the rattle shifter.. I believe I spoke to you.
B&M> Okay
Me> I found the problem and fixed it, it was the shift knob and insert
B&M> Okay
Me> I just thought you guys would like to know, you know.. you told me to wrap my new shifter in electrical tape, and thats a BS fix.. this is a real fix!
B&M> OKay, thanks.
Me> .....
Me> click (i hang up the phone in disbelief)
Me> fucking.......... IDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDIOTS!!!!!!

I could've sworn the guys name was drew, but who remembers after all this time.

note: I eliminated maybe 90% of the vibration when i had the KA motor, then I blew up that motor and went SR. The SR has ZERO vibration. Just goes to show, I guess its a better, more balanced motor.

That sounds like Joey to me, not Drew. Anyway, I talked to Drew several times and he was very helpful.

One of the my worst experiences was NRG. They are idiots. I'll never support them.

Ravspec, SPL, FRSport, Panda Garage, More-Japan, Project Nissan, Never Enough Auto and Stance, they are all great.

This is all bullshit about b&m having good customer service and replacing parts. I bought a shifter second hand that was missing one of the spring retainers and after reading this thought hey no problem ill just call the friendly guys over at b&m and get a new one for free! Far from it, at first they said the guy who knew was at lunch and would call me back... never did. I called again the following day and they said they do not replace the internal pieces to, or service their products, they will only replace the entire unit to the original owner with a receipt. BULLSHIT!

nice bump
Why are you surprised that they didn't send you free stuff? You aren't their customer.
By your logic, I could buy a broken PS3 and expect Sony to send the required parts for free.

If you think that's bullshit, then you may be interested in knowing that in the absence of some serious growing up; the next 50-60 years of life are going to be particularly rough on you. Until then, please do us all a favor and DO NOT reproduce. There are too many of you in this world as it is :cops:

I said i was expecting it to be free after reading the post. I didn't demand them for free. I offered to pay full price whatever they were asking for a set of replacement parts and they simply denied to sell them. i offered to pay for parts, and they refused to sell so i would be forced to buy a whole shifter.... not me trying to be entitled, just stating the companies customer service kinda blows

SilviaSteez92
11-15-2013, 01:51 PM
I wasn't upset about having to spend money on a part. I was upset that they sold/gave the parts to another customer and told me they weren't available for sale to anyone. regardless of whether it was purchased new or not.

unfortunately,.. it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone.

...or imagine how many people calling for free things and/or sponsorship they get in a single day.

SilviaSteez92
11-15-2013, 02:17 PM
i understand, but i was asking for a couple clips and springs not a sponsorship. I would have even paid some astronomical amount for them since its an unusual order. i just cant justify paying over 200 dollars for a new shifter that works perfectly fine but is missing a stupid little 10 cent piece.

I understand too,. doesnt sound like that big a deal really.

Try another day>be another person>kill em with kindness>receive parts

Thank Obama for this logic.

Yeah, this isn't really the right forum for a comment like that. Besides that it's a rather ignorant comment. If you really think that Obama is to blame with SOCIETY'S overall issues you need your head examined. You can't blame any one person for that at all. That's on ALL of us to one extent or another...

Well thanks for the one guy who helped, and dont really have much to say to the rest other than fuck off. The funny thing is when I was on the phone with them, the fact that I bought it second hand, (which I'm assuming is why everyone who posted earlier thinks I'm an idiot for expecting any type of service) was of no concern to them. Even after offering to pay whatever they wanted for the parts, they simply said they do not service their products or sell any kind of replacement parts for them under any circumstances, even to the original purchaser. This is where i get my claim of bad customer service from, not from being denied free shit, and my statement stands. Its a cheap gimmick to get customers who lose simple pieces to be forced to buy a whole new shifter entirely, and it is indeed bullshit. End rant, end thread. goin to work on the s14 instead of talking about it...

Why do people want short shifters? Swinging one's arm through gears is the most enjoyable thing about owning a manual car.

Honestly, I have a B&M and I really don't like it that much. It turns the butter smooth Nissan shifter into a notchy, noisy little bitch. I'm thinking of trying the Nismo shifter...

For what reason did you feel so compelled to defend yourself? It's not like he quoted anyone...

I wasn't being defensive. He asked a question, and I just thought I'd share my reason, for liking short shifters.

this thread went to some funny places.

the B&M shifter feels like how the shifter on my car should feel, tight smooth and comfortable.

when i called B&M they did not ask me for a receipt or anything. I had bought mine second hand also. and i still enjoy using it without any issues.

i think one big issue with forums is a lot is lost in translation from thought/words to text. when i read his comment about not getting it for free I didnt get the feeling that he was self entitled like a lot of the douchey kids these days. I could understand one comment about it but all the rest of the people jumping on it is a problem in itself. anyway not trying to start a debate there, just felt bad for the kid a bit.

I have had issues with home depot this month. they havent done anything but waste my time and do everything wrong with an order I placed. but a lot of times i have had good experiences there. I think it is hit or miss a lot of times with companies. Peoples moods change every minute, times have gotten harder every year too. I am sure companies have been feeling it too. I dont even want to get started about where this government is/has/will be taking us.

Have a nice day everyone, we deserve it. :D
