Ok, I am putting a built ka-t setup together for a friend. We got it all together, running, assembled...

He is using a Fidanza Flywheel and a RPS clutch(the street one i think). Also, has a new slave cylinder and was properly bled. We have done over 10 clutch jobs so we know all the work we did was right. I am going to try and adjust the clutch tomorrow.

The car does not seem like the clutch is disengaged when you push the petal in. When its running it doesnt want to go into gear with out making some nasty noises. If you start it in gear with the clutch in the car will start to move.

We tried to force the arm that the slave cylinder pushes on and it moves as far as its allowed. So the problem is either in the clutch, flywheel, or something else. When you push the clutch down, the slave cylinder pushes on the tranny fork.

I was wondering if he possibly has the wrong flywheel, like one for an SR20 or something? Also was thinking pressure plate, but I really would hope that a brand new RPS clutch would have this problem.

slave cylinder...i had the same problem when I pulled my motor for a another motor. I somehow damaged my slave cylinder and it wouldnt go into gear unless i had the car off, put it in gear then go from there.

Bleed it, bleed it, and bleed it again or Replace it (if he has a warranty on it then use it), bleed it again, and if it works jump for joy!

* SR/KA flywheels aren't interchangable also

The slave cylinder is brand new from Oriellys. I read some stuff on how to "ghetto" extend the arm on the slave to make it push further to test if its not going out far enough. I am probably going to try that also.

I didn't think they where interchangeable. But, better safe then sorry when the flywheel was not bought new.

When you bled it does the slave cylinder rod push the fork in all the way? You may need to adjust the clutch master cylinder. Also I removed the damper box thats bolted to the side of the frame rail, and just used a brake line bender to bend the line that goes into the box to go to the clutch flex line, much easier to bleed that way.

I can not tell if the slave cylinder is pushing it all the way in. It does push it in. It still has the stupid box on the frame. If it was my car it would be gone. The car is not mine, and I am not going to start buying parts for someone car.

I did a clutch in this car probably 3 years ago with out any issues.

clutch disc facing the wrong way? maybe you put the flywheel side toward the pressure plate

ok i had this problem, does he have the clutch damper in it? if so when you bled it did you alternate between the slave and the damper? i would take it out if he still has it. My car would pull forward with the clutch engaged and in first gear at stop lights until i eliminated it.

Clutch pedal your using, is it the OE?

Clutch pedal is OE.

I spent probably 45min adjusting the clutch. It has improved greatly. My dad was doing the clutch bleeding, I am doing to help him redo it this weekend(I was sand bagging my friend house for 13 hours on sat) The clutch feels way to touchy/aggressive to me. I have had 3 different stage-4 clutches in my other cars and they are all much nicer to drive.
