Took the engine out today and found this on the turbo.

A HOLE on cast iron!? You are looking at the middle portion of the T28.

Inproper way of installing A/N fitting ? The hole is an half inch down (see the wet spot?).

General look. The hole appears at the other side of a 12mm threaded hole which the 12mm bolt is holding this black hose. (I took the 12mm bolt out in this picture)

I shine light from the 12mm threaded hole and it shows no breakage from the inside of the turbo.

What could have cuased this? Water leakage + heat = accelerated rust? What can I do about it? Take it to a weld shop? Shoud I leave it since there is no breakage to the inside?

PS: Is this messed up stainless line installed correctly?

that looks nasty as hell...

It looks like its coming from farther up and leaking down the line, but it could be just the pics,

In regards to the hole, that is supposed to be there. On my 2871r, its the same way. Not sure why, but I wouldn't worry about it. Its just where the bolt for the oil drain threads in.

That 'hole' is just the far side of the threaded portion for the bolt...it's normal, it's FINE.

I'd be more worried about the nasty goopy shit pouring out of the line.

lol, that ain't cool!

anyways, i believe that is coolant build up.
Or the previous owner tried to seal it with some unknown stuff according to another member's advice. I'm not sure, but i'm not going to reuse that SS turbo line for sure :(

reminds me of the stuff Jabba the Hutt was spewing out when he was getting strangled.

The fitting was clearly sealed with toothpaste and tree sap.

There it is. How do you think a hole would develop in a turbine housing and have threads already in it? Do you think when a rod goes through the engine block it threads the hole on the way out too?
