Ok, guys I just couldn't pass on my latest deal, but I need to get a key now. Does anyone know if I can get a key from the dealership for a 97 kouki or will I have to call a lock smith. My new ride needs a little TLC, the shop that I picked it up from said the engine ran strong but that it needs a new fuel pump. They lost the key and never got around to getting a new 1 because of all the other cars they work working on, so it's been sitting in the back for a couple of years. I guess we will see if it runs at all, but for $400 I couldn't pass it up. Just need to fix the rear quarter panel.

well its yes and no to the dealership cutting a key. they can based off of the glove box code, but most of us that have s13s are out of luck since most s13s are too old to be able to do this. an s14 though, is no problem.

idk how nissan does it but the dealership I work at the parts guy just uses your vin, checks your ID to the title and sends you on your way, I would think they'd have to order your key though can't see them keeping a decade old key in stock

Most Nissan dealers have that key in stock. At least the ones in my area do.

The keys were used on Maxima 1995-1998, Altima 1993-1997, Sentra, 200SX & 240SX 1995-1999, Infiniti J30 2000. Even walmart has them shelf stock.

Good purchase. Just check that subframe out after a side hit like that. That spare can mean the other wheel hit a curb.

My local delarship said they couldnt do it with the vin, but my nissan delearship is dumb they thought my 240 was a v6. I would just go the locksmith route or go to a junkyard and get all the locks and the ingnition and just use that.

Well, I called a couple of dealerships yesterday and they said it's not in the system. The parts manager I talked to yesterday said that for the key code to be in the system the original dealership that the car is sold at must register it in the system when the car is deleviered from the factory. Apparently this process was hit or miss at alot of dealerships, until it became mandatory around 2002.

Anyway, I pulled the lock out of the trunk and a local locksmith said he can make a key for me on Monday for $35. I figured it was worth the wait to save a $60 onsite fee that most of the locksmiths charge.

Oh, and the damage to the rear quarter looks a lot worse than it actually is. Most for the dent can be pushed out from inside the trunk. The frame looks to be straight, but I will have to have it checked out for sure.

That's a base Kouki. The tail lights have been swapped.

Yep, vin says 97 base. Now, I just need to get rid of my 89 shell and 92 parts car, so I can purchase my L33 and T56.

The dealership only has key code information for 10 years after date of manufacture, even if they had it at one time it's too old now to still be available, as would any 240SX.

Yeah, he's doing an engine swap on an Integra. Right now he has 3 of them, if you include that shell. He's probably the best neighbor ever, has just about every snap on tool sold and works in paint and fiberglass at American Airlines. He'll be helping me paint this ride shortly.
