hey guys once again i need ur help, it is with coilovers. i love the tanabe brand/name, but i live in new york city and pot holes are everywhere. I was wondering wats better to get a full coilover setup or something like kyb yellows are better? i heard that kybs have a better dampening, so any advice would be great thanks guys

Get good coilovers and put them on the softest setting and dodge as many pot holes as you can.

You can do that ^^^ or just go with the KYB's. They have a lot softer ride than a set of coils. Why do you want to get coils anyways? Are you going to be tracking your car?

^^^that is very true. I had kyb's, i didnt really like them because the ride height was kinda high for me, they however did ride real nice.

kyb agx and koni yellows are two totally different shocks. sounds like you need to do more research.

if your main application is driving around on the street in new york, i would not rock coilovers at all.

at any rate, try asking on importfanatix. it's nj/ny based. some nyc people could probably offer you better advice, since i haven't driven my 240 into nyc since like... 2005.

thats the thing i do want to run the 1/4 mile just see my numbers. and every now and then they have events like little circuit racing in nj, i have thought of tein basics i found a set for 1050 the tanabes go for 850. i am also stiffing up the chassis. strut tower bars and under brace, and Stabilizers. so basically wat im looking for is something that will work on the road but will be a good track set-up

What did you read about megans that made you turn shy on them? Was it all the OLD stuff where people were hating on them just because they are not a jdm brand? Because back then not too many people realized that they ARE the exact same thing as apexi coilovers.

Anyways I have ridden in allot of cars with megan streets and they are bouncy just as everyone says in reviews however my megan tracks with very high spring rates actually ride on the street allot better in my opinion than the streets. They are not bouncy unless your on a really stiff setting. If you have them on soft they are very tolerable even on bumpy roads. I do avoide potholes at all costs however.

I used to have a tien lowering spring with kyb agx struts combo and it worked great for the street and decent for the track. They rode better than stock springs and struts on their soft setting and worse than my megan tracks when they were on full stiff. My biggest complaint with them was that I couldnt adjust the camber enough up front and that they didnt get me as low in the front as I would like to have been which was partly because of my sr and the springs were for a ka car. The tien springs do cause allot of body roll even when equipped with good swaybars on the track though, nothing you would notice on the street unless your breaking many laws.

What it boils down to is you cannot have your cake and eat it too. There are allot of trade offs with everything performance wise.

The absolute best dual purpose coilovers I have ever had the pleasure of riding in was kw. They remind me so much of a bmw. Great firm ride and now going to kill you on the bumps. I was disappointed at the nose dive we got with them though under hard brakeing and the 20s would rub the fenders. That was the only time they would rub though. These were not on a s chassis either, it was a customers g35.
