Well the rust is starting to come back on my rear driver side fender (damned salty roads). What would be the best thing to do here? I already fixed it once last summer....at least I thought that I did. Does anyone know exactly know how to fix it for good? . . . Or should I just take it to my body shop?
btw, the first time I "fixed" it I just sanded the hell out of, but I must not have gotten all of it off. Then I proceded to fill it with bondo, and then a good layer of rust-resistant primer was added.

sand it, wash it with denatured alcohol, don't use water. afterwards paint down some primer, use coats guy, don't just spray a thick layer on.

i guess if you got holes, patch it up too. but remember to spray light coats, very very light. As if you're doing a model. ;)

it'll be ok afterwards. but if you ever run through salt, spray down the car, spray down the underside, and spray down the inside of the fenders. You might even want to think about having the fender electroplated w/ some other metal like gold. :)

anyway, good luck, try to use some zaino as protectant on the fender's paint surface, it's really good stuff.

fe o2 = ferrous (di)oxide

feo = ferrous oxide.

Yes, but according to nomenclature, you name it ferric oxide.

EDIT: Actually, I believe it is acceptable to name it Iron (II) for ferrous, and Iron (III) for ferric. Each corresponding to the iron ion's proper oxidation number.

So you could call it Iron (III) oxide.

Correct me if I'm wrong here people.

Damn, I should've just said rust instead of Iron(III) (ferric) oxide. Anyway, I'm going to try to fix it again this summer, if it fails again, I'll take it to the body shop. Thanks for the help kali.
