Running a resonator in the middle would indeed make it even quieter. My St May 3.25 inch piping had a resonator in the middle. The original single tip muffler was messed up. I had it cut off and welded on the Magnaflow 13 inch muffler. It sounded dope and was not extremely loud. This was on a RB25DET powered S13.

On a Customers car I did the custom piping setup with no resonator but the longer 18 inch version of the muffler and it was not overly loud and sounded quite good. Nice deep sound. Stock looking out the rear. Cops did not notice it.

Do not go with Flowmaster. It makes all cars sound the same (like a Mustang with Flowmaster), at the expense of actual flow.

i had a magnaflow on mine with 2.25" piping. it had dtm style tips and i replaced it after my bumper caught on fire. but it sounded pretty great.

when i made henry (yarou, asparagus, whatever)'s exhaust on his S12 we used i think a magnaflow muffler, 3" all the way through - 24" resonator - (magnaflow?) muffler and blast pipes. sounds freaking lovely.

i ran a magnaflow for years. and just replced it with a magnaflow. replaced it because i now have a Greddy DD, not because it went bad.

theyre kinda on the loud side. but i liked it that way. they flow really well. and i prefer them over most other shit. they last. theyre quality.

I have a custom catback made of welded together mandrel bend sections with a Flowmaster 40 series muffler on my S13 KA-T. Sounds great. Flowmaster mufflers have a series of chambers inside, not fiberglas or any packing. Deep tone also. Im thinking of making an exhaust to replicate the Trust DD out of a Flomaster 40 series single 3" inlet/dual 2.5" outlet muffler and some 13" long Flomaster angle cut tips.

As to the V8 thing. I run a worked LS6 with dual exhaust all the way out. Headers to 2.5 stainless into 2 12inch cherry bombs, into an H pipe then into dual Borla XR series mufflers in the rear.

Still too loud with my cam, but sounds nasty as hell
