Need some Input here
Im in the process of running 100% E85 and i was wondering if i need new lines/fuel pumps/filter/ compatibles with E85
im already running 2 walbro pumps upgraded fuel lines(bigger) racing filter running top feed 1000cc now and upgrading to 1600CC (looking to make same power im making now or more, actual power is 510WHP) anyway, shop told me im set up allready and that i only need 1600cc injectors (30% bigger to run E85 to make same power im making at this moment) and ofxourse retune my AEM EMS
any one running pure E85 out there? im sure there is

you have to change your lines because the ethanol will melt rubber.

i already did that when did the dual fuel pump ,,, or it need to be a E85 lines?

So you're running 100% of 85% Ethanol?

/\ not yet. So ethanol comes in 85 and 100%? Haven't even check the pump yet

E85 is 85% Ethanol 15% Gasoline.

makes sense.

So your current fuel lines are steel? Other than that you MIGHT need 3 pumps, but that's only a maybe.

dunno,

Big HP supra guys run 3 in tank walbros + AN lines And 1600cc inj

made 855whp @ 24 Psi on a GT47-88.....3.4L 2JZ

On C16 Made 1480whp @ 4x psi ([email protected] 4x psi) :bigok:

so yeah..SS lines OR AN lines will do

oh seriously...nobody in this post has said anything truthful

you dont need to run steel braided lines for your fuel setup if you run E85...ive been running it for over a year now in my s13...IT WORKS FINE

the shop told you correctly...honestly though...id go with the largest injectors you can find...1600cc will work...but it wont allow for a ton of room to tune...run 1800cc or up if you can find them (im sure RC or MSD can get you some easily)...run your fuel competely dry...fill up with E85 on your current tune...CAREFULLY drive your car to the dyno and start tuning...easy as that

your fuel economy is going to drop by about 30% (but being as youre already making 510hp...i doubt you care)...E85 will handle timing like crazy

im currently running a JGY Top Feed Rail, Aeromotive -6an FPR, PowerFC, MSD 1200cc injectors and a S14 T28...im putting out 258rwhp @ 16psi on a mustang dyno...only reason im not making more is im on a stock head and the S14 turbo maxes out at 16psi (without tapering off)

the only way you will dry rot your fuel lines is if you the leave car sitting for months at a time...if you put fuel thru it on a normal basis...you wont have any issues

also...one SUPER important note...DO NOT RUN REGULAR OIL!!! run synthetic only (please research your temperature range for the ambient air temps you have in your environment)...and you have to religiously change your oil every 3 months...E85 and normal motor oil in the SR dont like each other...the E85 will break down the normal oil very quickly...synthetic keeps a much longer life span to it than normal oil does...so go get yourself some 10w-40 (the recommended oil for an SR by nissan of japan) and work your way up from there depending on heat conditions of where you live

thatnsk a lot dorkidori,, im running the JGY rail too. have to change the oil to synthetic for sure

Ive been running e85 for a year now on a stock block turbo sohc and its been fine. Single walbro, 750's and 12-13 psi. I changed out my 460s for 750's and the o-rings on the old injectors were fine, rubber fuel lines are fine, you'll be fine.

Only thing is dont run aluminum fuel lines or an aluminum fuel rail unless you get it anodized.

Me and a buddy of mine have done countless research over the last 3 years. and what we did was, get (2) 7gal buckets. fill them up with E85 and put random aluminum pieces such as fuel rails, stock FPR, etc... and rubber lines, steel lines, aluminum lines, etc. now we left these in the garage one with a lid one without a lid for 6 months, checking on them from time to time. And after 6 months, i had found the rubber lines to be just fine and usable, steel lines were fine, the aluminum however had little pits, i mean little little pits.

as for injectors you only need 30% larger than STOCK. i know tons of people running E85 on their cars with 650s and 750s with an aeromotive fpr and a single walbro 255. so dont over spend. its not rocket science

thanks bro
A guy i know just did hes conversation, he used the stock rubber lines it was cool for a few days but after 2 weeks line started licking ..i knew that was gonna happens cause he used the stock 1989 rubber lines . they were to old.
in my case im not running stock lines i replaced all of them . i dont want licking problems :)

you know AN arent lines.. they are the fittings...

anyways.
sounds like you are set. just make sure you get SS lines. but remember that to really have pure E85.. you really should mix it yourself. because it is essentially corn. and because of that. it changes during seasons and such. its just a thought... i ran E85 on my KA for a month or so.. sometimes id have a rough start.
oh yea. i never changed my rubber lines i didnt see a problems. i just heard they make them dry faster.. mine never did though. OH YEA. and the other problem i had with e85 is that is i guess, "mixable" i dunno. like it can get water into the gas and make your car sputter.

Pure Ethanol is actually illegal. from the refinery is comes in different blends, they make a winter blend, spring/fall blend, and a summer blend. and the percentage varys. E70, E76, and E85.(those are rough numbers, the real ones have slipped my mind) But yeah you dont need to do any mixing if you dont want to. for a while i was running 50/50 E85-93 and i liked it, but after switching to full E85 there is no going back, IT loves timing, and its very forgiving. and the smell of the exhaust is awesome!

I agreed on the no going back LOL
I run 103 often (very often) and thw smell/car respond/power/ etc etc its addict it LOL
93 sucks
waiting on my tuner to do the retune on the E85 hes out of town right now

What dorkidori said is true. I dont run it because of cylinder wash.
