Do they make 215/45-18 or 215/40-18

I'm planning out some stuff.

225/40-18 seems to be pretty popular, but I was wondering if they have anything slightly smaller.

When I say "they" I mean tire companies.

Both the Tire Rack and Discount Tire list many applications(brand/model) for both sizes. Looking for a specific brand, model or manufacturer?

can you just list all of them for me?

I want something to drift on. No drift RACING, just regular drifting. I'm looking for something small, because I ... err my friend, doesn't have much power.

Mostly for looks, but still needs to SPIN.

tirerack search for 215/45/18 came back with these results;

Compare Tire Search Results (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?width=215%2F&ratio=45&diameter=18&skipOver=true&y=10&ratio=45&skipOver=true&width=215%2F&diameter=18&x=11&startIndex=0&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemark=1&RunFlat=All)

discount tire direct for 205/40/18

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/searchTiresBySize.do?sw=false&cs=215&ar=40&rd=18

for your preference, i'd go with the Kumho SPT.
$125/tire and decent grip.
i used predecessors to the SPT on my old crx and liked them (712's or whatever they were called).

215's would give you a safe stretch on 9" wide wheels.
don't think you can go wrong unless you're picky.

215/35/18 Wanli Tires

Fairly cheap, especially if they're just for drifting. The tire wall concerns me, but I think it should work out just fine... . . . I'm not sure how they would look on your S13... errr your friend's car, but take pictures if you do! I'd like to do this with my S14 on 18x9.5

Edit: Nevermind, 215/35/18 on 18s are pretty gnar! I just remembered I spun those tires on G35 18 inch wheels.. YAH you should do it!

Brian

I'm over 99% sure I would never put WANLI tires on my car simply because they sound cheap and terrible.

whats the point of such a serious stretch if you're not even flush or tucking tire on the rx

Matej

That is how JTP sold it, I believe HyperTek does not like stretch.

Ummm that is pretty much true. I have a hard time running non-name brands or non-quality tires on my car. Maybe I think about tires waaaay to much. :bite:

yeah right

tires are the most important thing

most people neglect that

HyperTek

yeah i had to raise it some , my dirt driveway sucks due to the angle compresses suspension bodykit digs into ground etc.. I used to like stretch, now i just like slight stretch, i just get a better sense of security that way, i daily drive since its my only car i cant go extreme. 225/45 now, i still think its pretty cool for an FC since only a handful of guys do this ton them, the scene is nothing like 240s.

i could probably lower the front a lil if i decide to remove some of the fender face so the wheels dont rub under turn/compression.

sOapgun: I could never understand that. People buy expensive rims and mad quality upgrades and put on the cheapest tire they can fit on their cars. I try and explain but in most cases it's like talking to a wall.

If you can accept the decrease in performance on the track, and you are just going to burn them up. I can definitely see why people buy them. Certainly if you are broke, cheapo tires are better than sitting at home playing Forza.

:gives:

i can understand for rear tires or shitty cars

but good fronts are a must

and for any higher speed drifting shitty tires just isnt going to cut it

but like the other guy said baller wheels and shitty tires is dumb

save for another month and don't be a cheap ass

well, you have to consider the perspective of the generic hard parker/car show dude.
the $$$ saved from getting cheaper tires could go towards more jdm parts.
i guess some ppl wouldn't be able to make good use of decent tires anyhow.
no point getting direzza z1's if you only use your car to impress ppl at meets & shows.
actually, even for daily driving, most ppl wouldn't need much beyond basic all-seasons.

personally i'm happy running cheapskate kumho mx's.
might not be the best tire out there, but it's good enough for autoX, and daily driving.
it's also cheap & lasts for a good while.

Good tires are for people who care about performance.

Having to buy anything that does not change the look of the car feels like such a waste of money.

Wish I could run bare rims.

Ok.... look guys.

I am the LAST person that needs to hear a discussion about cheap parts vs. quality parts. lol.

I think I have made a post or two about it. Bottom line is this; ANY discussion about a knockoff vs. real part WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

Get that straight, RIGHT NOW.

Why don't you just run Z1 Star Spec again?

Unless they didn't make them in your size or something.

Brian

those will be WAY too expensive for rears.

also, too grippy.

ronmcdon

Z1's are pretty reasonably priced for what they are.
they're priced between the kumho XS (another tire to look into) and the Bridgestone RE01-R's.
A set of four 245/18's from tirerack ran me $800-ish shipped.
don't recall them being made in 215/18's though.
225's are the skinniest width for the Z1's iirc.

yes, they're definitely sticky.
throwing those on my 240 when my i replace the kumhos.

hard to find good tires in the 215/18 size.
the best value for a decent tire probably remains to be the the kumho mx @ 117/tire (215/18 size).
I would go for those.
they are also very hard to overheat on track events,
or at least I have failed to do in hpde & autoX events.

I've got Z1's in the front, and i'm loving them as well, they grip like mad, but not too much. Perfect for drifting. A+++++++

Right now i have N3000's in the rear.

Ahhhhhhh!!

My bad.

Thought you were talking about fronts.

Rears, why not go with Direzza?

Also, if Hankook still makes it, I remember guys saying their HRII tires gripped pretty good and lasted forever for the lower power guys?

Brian you should check out what the Corolla guys are running, and just see if those tires are made in 18" sizes.
