Rattle/ticking on startup, rear of engine it seems KA24DE

I started noticing a ticking/rattle/metal on metal type sound on startup, I have 101k on it now so I thought maybe the chain..but the sound seems like it's coming from the rear of the engine.

It only does it about 2-3 seconds on start then quiet.

One other thing I notice and may be related or not is at 4k+ in gear I hear a ticking sound from under that car too (not quite the same sound but that may be because of the wind noise and what not)...if I push the clutch in I don't hear it.

I am hoping this is just the clutch and not a bearing or similar engine internal issue.

Anything to check if I can't pinpoint it? Maybe it's as simple as a heatshield.

I believe it's the starter...I tried 're-starting the car' and it makes the noise each time.

I called the local nissan that's been running labor specials left and right to see what a clutch job would cost at the dealer....$979.00. Yeah right....

I am probably going to do it myself soon, the cheapest place that was a reliable shop wanted $350 for the labor (next was $450) and would use whatever new parts I brought.
