Are the european glass headlights really worth $400-500 or should i just stick with what i have?

Totally a matter of opinion.

umm depends if your headlight is all dull and if your willing to fork out 400 bucks for cleaner glasses that wont turn dull. Id say performance first before headlights imo if you havent already that is.

i own a set of these headlights...definitely worth the money imo, they wont dull or turn green...and the light output is a lot better than the plastic headlights that are offered here in the states.

alright. cause i can't see anything out of my headlights right now. its not so much as performance for me right now as getting me to school and back.

Well.. you could always buy a set of headlights that aren't as bad as yours. Or, you could clean the ones you have.

you should be asking that yourself. I mean what's the point of asking here? Some people can afford to dish out $400+ for glass headlights. In the end its your money.

i have them in my project car. i love them.
i will probably buy a set for my new daily. but not a priority right now.
i have other things witch are more important.
i cleaned my current ones. looks so much better.
cost me $30 and an hour of my time.
will clean again for better results.
being able to see at night is definately is a priority.
i suggest you try cleaning first.
if does not work, maybe try to source a cleaner set.
or bite the bullet and buy euros.
you'll be happy with them for sure.
but ultimately, it comes down to money for most people.

ive posted these before, but heres how my US headlights turned out after a few min of polishing. Did that last year. Lights are still super nice but I may do it again this summer to keep them perfect

Has anyone ever tried putting that X-pel stuff on their lights after cleaning them? I'm thinking it might preserve them for a while longer.

I have a super clean set of stock USDM Zenki headlights, and was pretty happy about them...
... until I saw Duffman's glass ones - they're just a whole 'nother degree of clean. Especially with a car like his (stock aero, slammed), where the little things like that stand out, it looks awesome.
The fact that the light output is better is nice too :)

I meant ask in my thread but it got gayed up. Is their any advantage to retrofitting the Euro lights vs the USDM lights?

I bought brand new usdm from the dealer and had them covered in the clear film still looks brand new like the day I got it.... I'm sure if you polished yours and put the film over it would yield the same results as brand new.

tell me how they look. I almost bought those too. The euro lights need some kind of different wiring right?

I just installed mine this weekend.
Worth it for sure if you've got the extra spending cash. It's true, you could spend your money on your engine, but cmon...its pure sick!
Here is a comparison pic.

The only down side is Im not sure how i like the color/ style mismatch b/t the corners and the headlights. Im thinking of going amber on the sides.
And a few shots i took today.

I have an RB25det wireing harness that comes with both a connection for the USDM light and the euro light. I have no clue if the KA or SR harness is any different at all.
In this pic youll see three clip connections. The one on the right (red arrow) is for your USDM light, the one on the left (big circular one w/ no arrow pointing to it) is your high beam. and the unused one on the left (green arrow) is the clip for the glass headlight.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a345/phatsumo82/DSC06105.jpg
Check the wiring that clips into your current lights. If you see another clip thats not being used and is much skinnier (green arrow) than the one thats currently pluged in (red arrow), then its as simple as unplugging the fat clip, replacing the light and plugging in the skinney one into your glass headlights. the fat round clip w no arrow pointing to it fits directly into the glassies.

if you wire that other white socket properly, you could also adjust the height level of the headlight beam.

Good info, but your red arrow is actually pointing to the high beam in that pic.

Ya but the US lights dont have the motor in the housing to adjust. But the glassies do. i was thinking of getting the switch but i think i foudn it online somewhere for like 80+ bucks! Not sure its worth it unless for the "cool factor".

I looked into the clears from final konnex. but it was just a little bit too much for me considering you just get the cover AND theres tons-o-"do it yourself" work to do when it comes time to do the retrofit. But ya, the clears w/ projectors are def. sekushiii.

Do you just buy the switch and wires and hook it up?
How much did you get the switch for?
Is there any re-wireing/ splicing needed?

buy some spray clear and some 1000 grid sanding paper...sand them down and and spray clear on it and they look brand new again...you just have to sand them down ALL they way to go get a good look...they wont look good untill you spray them and let them dry...total cost is like 12 bucks!!!!!!! and spend that money to some eles you really neeed and not what you think you need...

Not that bad in comparison to what? You dont have anything to diffuse and direct the light properly, so you dont have a beam pattern. Might as well do what Russ says and tape 2 mag-lites to the front of your car, because its pretty much the same thing. But I guess its not that bad. Dont forget to take it one step further and install an HID kit, because really.. its not that bad.

Your car doesnt have flash-to-pass. Thats not a high beam, its called a patch-fix.
No... just no.

the dual filament low beam functions as the high beam also. with the single filament hid, i no longer have high beams. the aim control give me high beams. the patch-fix light is adjustable separately and i have them angled down as fogs.

Why don't you just duct tape a couple of these to the bumper of your car?
Amazon.com: Black and Decker VEC192 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight: Home Improvement (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EJQIM6?ie=UTF8&tag=200719-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000EJQIM6)
I mean, why not? 20 Million candle power > HID
Just point them towards the ground for low beams, and then tilt them back up for high beams. Fuck, turn them around so you can super bright back up lights too.

you mean to tell me that when you turn the light switch to the ON position that your lights actually turn ON? amazing.
DOT has requirements set as to how each light on the vehicle should operate. its been discussed already and someone already posted a link as to how and why rebased HID retrofit kits are illegal.

so your gripe is simply about having hids? with the glass headlights, even the silverstars are kind of dim. and according to your statement, everybody should run a stock ka since turbos and swaps are illegal?

these headlamps would look great with a plug in Chinese HID kit.
If you still want some headlights dude, I'm in the UK, but have 3 spares, so could send them over if you like. All glass headlights, no cracks etc.
Just cover the postage and you can have them.

well bc ur jus in school and arent doin too much i say polish the hell out of ur lenses and clear and polish the clear completely smooth but if ur up for some fun i took a 300zx projector and retrofited it in the high beams and used ddm tuning hid's and actually had the hid's for the factory zenki high beams but i slightly modified the projector to accept my hid....i allso painted the high and low beams black and added some metal flake to the low beam and put hid's in the low beam-so the low beam basically didnt really reflect alot of light but looks amazing as the light shimmers on the flakes and i wired the high to a relay so i hav the highs lows and fogs on at one time and everyone says it looks incredible and doesnt at all blind oncoming trafic but puts out ample light to see everything in front of my car-sorry for the paragraph lol

Id say the cheapest and cleanest look is too wet sand your headlights down to 1200 starting off from 400,600,800,100,1200 then clear coat them!! =D my usdm lights that used to be piss yellow now look like glass and feel right about the same!! wish i hada camera to show but u get the idea!
p.s. when i started wet sanding at 400 the water was coming off super yellow!! i was disgusted!!

I know this is an old thread but I've been searching and can't find any write up on how to install the zenki edm glass headlights. Can anyone help me? Direct me to any links?
Thanks much-
I have them on my car, all you have to do is bolt them in & connect the h4 stock headlight connector & you're good to go. You wont be able to use the h3 EDM connetor, but you could get that wired in by a professional.

remove corner light unbolt 2 bolts that connect headlight
detach headlight harness
reattach lowbeams, splice the 2 wires for the high beams.
reassemble.
