I know these post come up a lot and most of them are just ppl dreaming, but could someone just tell me if i am missing anything on my turbo setup?
We need a whole forum for turbos

370cc injectors
Apexi AFC
Rev Hard Manifold
Rebuilt Garret T3 From Junkyard
Blitz Boost controller(or turboxs dual stage, the cool one with the switch)
Some Type of Turbo Timer
Cheap Intercooler
Gauges

Piping, BOV, oil lines. I'll see something else you're missing later.

I agree. There should be a separate section for turbo discussions.

I don't know how many people know this.. but RevHard redesigned their manifolds to combat the cracking problem about 10 months ago. They thickened the parts (a lot) that had cracking problems.
Trust me on this. I had to wait a month to get the new manifold from them. Also, in 8 months I haven't had a cracking problem yet. This includes numerous 4 hour drives, and street/strip races.

revhard and fmax both fixed their problems of cracking issues,

so now they are both great manifolds and its the person's choice to either go with a top mount or bottom mount manifold

Whats everyone's opinion of a turbotimer? of those who have it how many actually say its required? out of the 4000 members of my forum not one uses a turbotimer..and everytime a new member pop's up and asks what kind to get he is shot down and decides not to get one... I know it helps with the life and all that good stuff.. but thats only if you make a long hard run and pull over and shut down the car.. if you drive for 5 minutes after the hard run then you have let the turbo cool down... just want to hear the different sides so dmc doesnt go wasteing money... thanks

dmc knows i'm not being serious bout the homo thing. we live liek 5 min away from each other. i just joke on him b/c we've got an ongoign bet on whos car will be faster. and i know i'll win on default b/c he's gonna peice a ****ty turbo kit together unless he take my advice.
btw jeff- yes i was informed on how they fixed there cracking problem. and yes revhard is a good manifold. but the reason i say it sux was mainly to joke on dmc, he's gotta budget turbo kit and instead of taking my advice to buy a (lesser quality) log stlye manifold, he wants to spend mad dough on a revhard.

Does the T3 have a wastegate? because you might want to get one. One more thing, upgraded fuel pump perhaps. But like everyone says, it's your car you do what you want. Good luck.

You might want to have that intercooler checked for leaks if it's old. Shops that check for radiator leaks can look at it am I right?

The pump is fine for a low boost setup (although I would pony up the $100 for peace of mind). Also, T3 turbos are internally actuated, and don't need a wastegate. What he will need to do is get a flange of cover up the wastegate hole in the RevHard manifold.
Also, LittleSpic... most people here use a turbo timer. I have the HKS Type 1 US. Spec timer. Even when you drive, the turbine blades spin, and a turbo timer has 2 functions. First, it allows the turbo to slowly decelerate, while providing lubrication (by letting the engine run), and second, it keeps a flow of oil going through the bearing section, cooling down the turbo. Also, by the oil flowing, it's not stuck in the bearing section at 1000* to coke up and seize your bearings.
I think they are great items, but if you can't pony up $60 for one, you HAVE to sit in your car, idling, for about 1 minute. My turbo timer is set to 2 mins for driving around town, and 5 minutes (overkill, I know) after freeway driving or racing hard.

How many times does a guy with his daily driver have 1000 degree oil though??? I know that it's temp gets up there.. but I know that it isnt that hard to sit in the car and extra 5 minutes after you race or even get a good boost run out of it.. but just around town you arnt goin to ruin anything... Im sitting at 162k miles on my stock car and no turbotimer and I dont see any shaft play.. but like everyones... thats my car.. might not be the same for all

The t3 does have a "internal" wastegate.. so I would suggest a log style.. but I havnt seen any pics of a log style for a nissan yet.. doesnt mean they dont exist... I just think log style's are better so that the exhuast housing doesnt see "pulses" and see's a more consitant flow.. but whatever floats your boat..

The oil can't get to 1000*. It will cook and crud up before then. The turbo, however does get up that high. Oil sitting in the turbo will cook up.
Anyway, is your car water-cooled? If so, that throws another variable into the mix.
Finally, there are log-style manifolds. Most of the turbo manifolds for the 240sx are.

Nope its oil cooled.. I have a nifty little oil cooler, just a little horseshoe piece that flows both oil and engine coolant through right above the oil filter...

If you'll like having them, more power to you.. I just wanted to see like 10 people come in hear and say that their turbo had siezed up before I got my timer... before I would actually go and look at buying one...

lol.. you won't find that here b/c most of these guys are smart enough to not jump out of their cars after a hot run without a turbo timer.
