95.5 and on are obd2 so yes it will work if in fact you do have a 95.5 ecu.

You don't need a M/T ECU for a 5speed swap - the auto ECU works just fine.

And there's a relay in the engine compartment that you have to fool into thinking the car is in neutral by closing the loop with a wire. If someone can chime in as to what it's called i don't remember.

You believe wrong. 91-94 ECUs will not work, nor will they even plug in.

There is no 95.5. All 95s are OBD-I. Period. 96+ is OBD-II.

Exactly. Thank you for being the only one right in this thread.

Are you certain? I'm sure I could find somethings that would say otherwise. The CARB list of pre96 obd II compliant vehicles is one and I can think of other points that would support my claim if you'd like

Finding something that says otherwise is easy. You tell someone to say it, they do, and then you find it. Anyone can do that. I can find a web page that says grass is purple if I create one.

I've parted out over forty S14s in the last dozen years and serviced another hundred or so. While all S14s have an OBD plug, the '95 models are not fully OBD-II ready, they have no EVAP system and have a different set of codes for diagnostic work. Some of the codes mimic OBD-II codes, but not all. Therefore it's not fully compliant, and most OBD readers won't fully scan a '95 model. Just like the Greddy Infometer, it does not work in a '95 model using the OBD plug, you have to use the CONSULT port. Later models work on either plug. Hence the move of the OBD plug in '96 models to beside the hood release, not below the glovebox like on '95 models.

arent there also benefits from using the auto ecu to the 5spd one?

It's said to not have a speed cut, if I remember correctly. The downside in *some cars* is that the timing is cut back a little, and the car acts differently on decel (as well as having provisions for a auto tranny controller, which doesn't effect anything if you're M/T).

I didn't notice any difference running an E5 ECU on my redtop to the 62 ECU. Can't say whether KA auto ECU will act differently than KA M/T ECU, just that it'll work.

It sounds like we're in agreement then. Although the Greedy Informers primary function is not that of a scan tool but rather a monitoring device so I'm not surprised that it wouldn't be fully compatible.
