I recently bought a 1990 240sx, and there is only one problem w/ it. The transmission is shot. Would it be possible to take the transmission out of my '91 and put in in my '90? i really don't feel like swapping both the engine and tranny because i plan on getting an SR eventually and i just don't want to waste the time putting in the other engine if i don't have to. I ask this question because i know that the engine in the '90 and '91 are a little different. Oh yeah, and the '90 is an auto, that's another reason why i want to put in my 5spd tranny.

all transmissions for the 2.4L are interchangeable.

I'd call you local nissan service center about that one. But if your putting your 91 tranny into your 90, then why not the engine too? You know they work together.  It is more work before the sr, but would be a great performance inhancer.

I don't want to swap the engine cause its more work than i care to do. If i'm gonna end of swapping for an sr why put in the extra effort to put an another engine i don't care about if i don't have to? Its gonna be a pain in the ass enough just converting the auto to a manual.

swapping manual transmissions on any year 240sx can be done, but extra work and planning MAY need to be done when switching from auto to manaul. things like the ECU, and transmission sensors, and the wiring to your tripometer, and tachometer. i don't know for sure about swapping from auto manual, but those are things i'd question people that truly know.
