hey all i was going along with taking out 2 useless chain guides in my KA24de s13 and once i took off the valve cover, the upper guide was not there! the bolts that hold it down and part of the bracket was there, but the big slab of metal is no where to be found. i tried putting a magnet down to the crank but didnt pick up anything. i looked around for foul play and saw nothing. should i be worried where this piece went? i thought of one way that maybe sometime in this cars life, it broke and someone took the broken piece out already.... thanks for reading :)

You hope. How long have you had the car? If it hasn't surfaced now, it's possible it's gone already, but I would be wary of it just sitting somewhere waiting to wedge into the chain.

i had the car for about a month now driving say every other day. farthest ive driven was 90 miles *bought the car on c-list and drove it home*. im guessing either someone took it out, or it just magically poofed away. at least i took off the side chain guide and replaced the upper tensioner cause it was siezed :)

I would just replace the guide and drive the hell out of it.

No. The guide is not to be reinstalled. Hence removing it in the first place. Why would you install something back in that's deemed unnecessary?

hey guys, this was a big stress reliever, i found a whole bunch of random crap in the trunk, and for some reason, i found the upper chain guide there! WOO! so happy its not traveling around my engine. now i can drive with confidence that a mysterious guide might want to get in between mr chain and mr cam gear :)!
