The door has a moisture barrier. Removing this plastic sheet leaves a nasty residue of adhesive.

I already tried tar/bug remover, as well as rubbing alcohol. The adhesive is just really stubborn.

Any good solvent for cleaning this adhesive?

I've had extremely good luck with pb blaster adhesive remover. All I do is spray it on and wait a few minutes. The adhesive, depending on how strong it is, will usually just wipe away. You can buy it at any local parts stores. I know for sure Advance Auto sells it.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try both.

FYI: PB Blaster might damage your paint if you care about that, but it works.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover works well and won't damage paint. Goo Gone might work too.

Blow Dryer should help speed up process.

It's the inner door skin and will be covered by the door panel so it's not visible. Just trying to clean up some stuff.

Thanks for the tip.

WD40 definitely works. Dunno how friendly it is to paint, but I don't recall it being terribly harsh.

S13? The white stuff used on those is harder to get off but I always wad up a big glob of the same stuff from the vapor barrier and stick it to itself, it pulls off in chunks that way. Works better on the S14 black goo but still does the job without having to scrape a lot, then the residue cleans with solvents.

Goo gone probably wont work on that stuff. That stuff on the inside of the door is crazy, like it doesn't really ever dry. Goo gone is really good at removing dry sticker residue from my experience.

You guys need to think industrial-eat-your-skin-off-strong. Straight acetone works good(nail polish remover has a small amount), and MEK will pretty much take off anything adhesive in the world that I've seen so far... and I've seen some pretty beast adhesives at work.
