Hey guys, some of you may have seen my KA24E performance build thread. Now its finally in the process of the rebuilt. But my wirring harness is in pretty bad shape. and i want to get a new one. whats the best way to set up a track car engine bay ?? Id like to have a relatively clean engine bay meaning the kind that dont seem to have any wires in em. I've herd ppl do that by hiding the wires in the fenders ?? or is there any way to minimize the wirring just for the basic inturments the engine needs to run ??
Thanks for your time guys.

Some guy on here I remember hid the actual fuse box (from the engine bay) into the glove box. So I think it would probably be a good idea to hide the wires in the fenders (just make sure to heat shrink and such make them very clean and wrapped together), or even relocating the fuse box. I would think if you could run most of the wiring underneath the lip of the fenders in the engine bay and you wouldn't be able to see them very well at all.

Thanks.. unfrotunatly im not to good with wirring. ive only recently finished an automotive tech class and now im on to brakes. after that is electrical. so ill probly needa find some one to help me accomplish this. so you dont think its possible to just run the things you need for the engine?? like the fuse boxes have so many things that are unesesary for track. IDK still learning as u can tell

The fuse boxes contain yes a few unnecessary fuses, but their are many fuses and relays that you will need still to start you car and operate lighting and such. I mean I guess you could get rid of a couple wires and plugs that you don't need if you are really concerned about super clean track car. But otherwise, I would try and relocate the fuse box inside of the cabin somewhere near the passenger side like behind the dash but still accessible or in the glove box.
I remember the guy who used to do this charged I think $200 or so to relocate and clean up the wiring.

OF COURSE! Why would you think that only complicated circuits work? Why don't you save yourself a whole bunch of headaches, and long nights, and just get someone else to do it. I mean I'm really confused here....you start off by asking how to make your car look like a "racecar" and then TOTALLY switch gears and get on hiding wires? I don't think racecar designers trim their harnesses down by hiding them in a fender?:wtf:

Fuse box is very important for the safety of the car especially if its is a track car since the fuse box reduces the chance of wires burning. IMO tucking the wire harness is more for show cars than for track. Sure track cars have a pretty bare engine bay since they are only running the essential electrical components. But in order to do this you would have to switch to a stand alone EMS. The problem of eliminating components from a factory wire harness is that the stock ECU will see those things missing and attempt to compensate by changing the way the motor runs making it much less that optimal for track.:2c:
Keep up with the schooling though man (not being sarcastic).

The reason i mentioned it "looking" like a race car was to give you guys an idea of what im trying to do. IM not just trying to hide the wires just cuz it looks cool. I just want and engine bay where theres not many wires in the way when i need to do maintnance or work on the engine.. i wanna be able to unplug a few things rather taking while just to get to a part. and the fender idea. The fender idea was from some one that just said they had seen it done a few times before. and the reason i would like to try it myself with some supervision to make sure i dont mess anything up for the experiance. i wanna be able to completely work on my car instead of taking it to the shop everytime somthing breaks down....

Yeah full track car no street driving what so ever.. i already took out all AC... striped interior, no turn signals, manual roll up windows, and of course electric fuel pump. This kit is alittle expensive but hey always gotta spend alittle especially on a track car right ?? If i can afford this thad be great but will see.
Thanks for the link!

Why the fuck would you want to move electrical shit under the fenders for a TRACK CAR? Its bad enough that people chew up the stock wiring under the fender, but you wanna one up that by moving most of the electrical shit under there. Thats a fucking disaster waiting to happen.
What i would spend the time on is trimming the stock harness, get rid of all the shit you dont need. Actually, take that back, better option would be making your own harness. Only wire up stuff that you need to get the car to run.

Lol man your mad.... i never said I was going to do this... my fenders dont even have shrouds.. i was just making examples of basic concept of hiding wires.. but im probly gonna go ahead and order the stock harness and deal with it
