View Full Version : Keep the 240?

Alright I've got a bit of a conundrum on my hands.
For the past year, my S13 has pretty much sat in pieces in a garage.
Needless to say, I've lost interest. Part of me wants to sell her, but part of me can't let go. I've had the car for almost 6 years now.
I have a 1991 corolla, 1972 Baja Bug, and a 1966 Dodge Dart, and would like to start on one of those cars soon, and the 240 is seriously holding it up.
But again, I've lost interest. At this point, I almost wanna say fuck it im done, and move on. But I dunno. I dont want to regret it.
What I could do, is re-assemble it to the best it can be for now, do another car, and redo it the right way down the road. but I dunno.
I need some help her

maybe what you really need is an actual goal.
My goal with my car has always been absolute performance/grip/road racing.. I stuck to it and progress no matter the time. Do you even know what your direction or goal is?

6 years owning the car, you must have alot of memories and feelings with THAT car?
therefore i wouldn't get rid of it. rebuild it enough to drive it and see what you think of it, maybe it will relight the spark you got with the car 6 years ago.
it's easy to feel unpassionate about something that is in peices and doesn't run. get it running again relive your passion.

Its basically up to you.
Seriously, before I started down the road of this build I am on right now. I was ready to sell everything off and just buy a 350z instead.
I had collected the parts I wanted, to do the build, but had been to caught up in other things.
I decided to do the build because I had always wanted to. If I was not doing this build, it would have been hasta la vista baby.
If you feel, the 240 is getting in the way of other builds, you are more serious about?
Then you have probably answered your own question already and are just looking for approval.
Shall we say, reassurance you're not making a decision you might regret possibly?
If you do not have passion for doing your 240 then chuck it. Its a car, sometimes we grow tired of them.

i had 10grand budget....and i had a choice between s2k, 350z, rsx-s,
i fell in love with the kouki...sure its not a s13, but its still a 240sx.
and i love it, as im running a japanese 90s car and love the fact that im driving a 240sx as opposed to other cars

when it comes down to it... its just another 240. i'm getting rid of mine asap, of course it will be hard to let go of. but its still just a car. if i had a dart, i would much rather build that. you already got yourself a good DD. of course, like drift freaq said, its up to you.

ive been seriously thinking about selling mine also. im just sick of dumping money into it, and if i keep it i know that i wont stop, and i know ill never get near what i have into it. i was thinking sell it buy a sport bike and put the rest of the money away.

Must agree with Dave.
It's definitely up to you.
There's times I think "Damn, If I parted my car out, I would have more than enough to buy a Z33 AND throw some wheels/coilovers on it."
But, I'm insanely attached to my car.
Which is why I have two...
Haha.
If money is an issue(no current $$$ to fund a project), I would just park it, take care of business, then come back to it later.

the issue is, its parked in the garage taking up the space I could be starting on my dart or bug in.
I mean honestly, I know of a great KA i can get for cheap, throw it in, put the body back together a drive it.
I think I just got caught up in the idea of doing a V8 swap, and doing some other funky shit to it and got carried away, whereas I should've just taken it sloooowwwwwwly.
thanks for the opinions guys, anymore is welcome.

BAJA BUGS SUCK
vanagan with a subie engine :)
lol
I would sell it if you have other things you wanna do.
Life is short, dont let something so trivial as a car hold you up from happyness.

Baja Bugs are awesome in HS a friend had one. we would go out at lunch and jump all the hills in the park by school(Del Valle aka Airplane Park). then on trash day we would drive up half on the curb and half off and knock every trash can over. man HS was fun!!!

Sell the 240 and move on, its just dead weight...You've got other projects that you'd like to work on...No sense in keeping something that's on the back burner....

I've been there before on a couple of occassions
but I'm glad I didn't get rid of my 240s
but that's just me, I had no other projects I was interested in either
do what's fun for you and if that means selling the 240
then so be it

See I'm a bit odd in the fact that I don't see my cars as trivial. It's kinda lame, but hell I like my cars more than i do most of my family, and half the time I consider them my family.
I know I'm weird, but ya kinda have to be to drive a corvette yellow baja bug with a stinger pipe ;)

LOL, I believe i remember your thread when you bought that like a year or so ago :)
Im just giving ya shit on the baja bug. Although its not for me, I had a slammed and rusted up ghia before this S13.
I think if you let it go, you will feel relieved.
i have been getting rid of stuff i dont need a couple times a year lately, and its really freeing.
Plus, a 240 is a easy replacement.
your other cars sound like alot more fun too.
if I didnt drift, I wouldn't own one.
So if you can afford an old american car, thats what i would be working on :)
BTW, the vanaroo will cost you over 10K, so dont even start, lol!

I was in the same spot as you. I almost ended up selling and decided to suck it up.
Looking back now, I feel stupid for trying to sell in the first place.
If you have some goodies for it.. dont sell, you'll regret it.
