I got my 180sx type x replica spoiler for my 89 240sx a while back. it came primed but not painted. the paint estimates i got were pretty high though, so i havent painted it yet. The best i got was $275 because mostly all the shops were gonna sand and reprime the thing, and red (my car color) is the most expensive paint. i could go to maaco and get the lower quality paint on it, does anyone know how much they would charge? whats a fair price for a good paintjob on the spoiler, and should i just lay down the money?

the money is NOT in the paint or labor, its the prep work.
search on google for how to prep body parts, do the prep work yourself (it is very easy) then get the cost accessed. also if you can, maybe get the paint yourself and then the shop will cost you just labor.
also make sure you DONT go to big shops. find the smaller 'mom and pop' type shops. you'll get a better cost, especially ifyou are a 'regular' or plan to become one eventually

$275?!?
I got a bumper painted for my VW for $200... They had to remove the black paint that was on it, prep and repaint in my color (a pearly metallic dark blue/purple, not cheap).
Keep calling around... and like dousan said do as much prep work as possible by yourself.
