Not any time too too soon but I was thinking of getting rid of them. That's after the swap and a few thing since body work isn't a big concern of mine right now anyway.

The Zeal Side skirts are pretty nice looking and simple. Can't say the samething about the bumper though.

nice wheels you got there! what is that, +40something on a 7"?
that sunken in look is t-y-t-e!

this quote aplies to the wheels on the nasty Green S14 too

those arent too bad at all. keep it clean and simple!! head turner but not head turner and yelling "EW NASTY!"
haha

btw, are you going to get the rear valence and side skirt painted? seems unpainted valence right now..nasty!!

That rear vallance was just spray can primer, paint and clear coat. My boss at work sanded them down for me since those things were really crappy quality. He also painted them. We still needed a few more coats to make it shinier but I honestly didn't give a crap enough to care. I'm much more concerned about go (and suspension) then how the car looks. Yeah it may be ghetto but that should only be for tempory.

Also my side skirts are painted. Just the shop that did it back in Kasnas didn't do very good prep work to make it smooth and glassy before the paint.

Or are you talking about when I get the new side skirts? (which isn't anytime soon.)

it better be temporary. you are leaving your ricer ways (back in the day) dont let it return. I like what you've been doing to your car lately!!

My Rear Wheels are still a bit too sunken in for my taste. Any suggesions for me or you think I should leave it the way it is.

Currently 17x9 w/ 255/40/17 35 offset I'm guessing there's about -1 and a half to 2 degree camber on it from the drop. Ocasionally I hear the wheel rubbing the Fender well.

I was thinking of slaping on a 5mm spacer in the rear (anything more I'd extend the studs or use a wheel adapter) but for the most part I'm pretty much anti spacer. Hmmm but with that I'm sure the rear would be rub city with the fender wells all the time instead of sometimes. Can't PJ's do a lil work to slight flare out the stock fender for more room. (Like what they did to sams S13.)

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 06:22 PM
spacer's fine. but get your fenders rolled ASAP!
talk with sam, he'll tell you were to go
with your fenders rolled, it just tucks that lip on the inside of the fender in. so basically your fender will just be fender w/o the lip.

then you wont rub ever again. cost is minimal too, you'd be surprised

then you can run a spacer w/ no worries of the tire hitting anymore. sam will tell you where to go :)

flaring it out would cost HUUUGE amounts of money. its a lot. better just to roll it.

I knew I should have bought the +27's up front! instead of my current 17x8 +35 with a 5 mm spacer!

Back is fine but I keep getting this urge of wider is better!

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 06:28 PM
ah yeah. but you can sell them easily. i say go 17x9 and 17x10 with perfect offsets for brakes and coilovers :) that would be sweet.

hey, what kinda real valences are those?

looks clean, might go well on my car :)

It's too bad Typhoons dont' come in 10's. :(

but I'm not set on ony one wheel design but it would have been easiar from the start

This isn't quite the look that I want. :(

Uh oh sticky tape is comming loose!

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 06:38 PM
seriously. save up and get volk or advan. you'll never regret. the wheels are not only damn sexy but lightweight. te37 in bronze, mommy. like benson's 17x9 +22. sunken in spokes and clears ALL w/o spacers on front of s13! how perfect.

anyways, use 3m double sided tape. should stay well.

NiteKids
03-16-2003, 06:43 PM
Acually PJ was a nice guy and slaped them on for me. He used 3mm Double side tape. Guess it just didn't stick too well. It sticked good on the other side though.

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 06:45 PM
if PJ did it then you SOL hahaha
he knows what he's doing. anyways. nothing a dab of superglue cant fix hahaha..j/k

get them repainted and on their. im sure PJ will cut you a good deal w/ the sideskirts getting painted.

Atleast I am using wider wheels with lower offset which is better then the Sunken in 7inch wide fwd wheel. (COUGH cough Duffman).

This setup is already an over kill anyway. It should be fine even for the power I'll be putting out with my swap. (plus few usual bolts on.) even then It still may be an over kill.

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 06:53 PM
yeah, try a smaller width tire too, keep the sidewall straight w/ wheel lip. looks nice. anyways, yeah wont make enough power so yeah overkill, but check out volk prices.

you should get some 16's for the track and backup. :)

Hey dousan, would you mind explaining what rolled fenders are, and the process used to achieve em? Thanks..

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 07:38 PM
yeah
go out to your car
under your fenders, feel it. where it bends. notice how there is a 'lip'
so the fender is like this

|
|
|
|---

when they roll the fender it becomes:

|
|
||
||

so your tire can go UP and not hit that lip (it sounds really bad when it hits).

fender rolling is pricy because it require some touch pu paint. when you roll it the paint chips of cousre. so theshop will roll it and either touch up paint or nail polish.

its good thing to get done when you like wide tires or TUCKED wheels.

Nice diagrams. :D Thanks for the help.

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 07:46 PM
i highly suggest getting it done, you can make "wheels flush with fender" really flush with the fender

when you corner hard and your tire hits the fender, its scary as hell! and the response of the car is obviously f'd up

dousan, you can stop the paint from chipping if you use a heat gun.

Just heat it up real good and then roll the lip, that way the paint will bend with the metal and not chip! :)

whats the best way to roll fenders? Some people on here say you can use a baseball bat. Anyone tried that? Got any pics?

Dousan_PG
03-16-2003, 08:32 PM
it still would chip some. because it goes form 45 degree to 90 degrees (straight up) i heard nail polish will do the job after its rolled

not sure, i have to get mine done. no second car so its hard for me to drop it off for a day and get t work. i used a bat at the track one time. did the job hehe..no the camber clears the fender so no wories, but my new wheels will definately need it rolled! yikes! need to get it done before april 6

What kind of shop would you get this done? A body shop? And how much would it run? It doesn't seem like it would even be that difficult to roll 'em yourself. Especially if a heat gun works to keep the paint from chipping. Heat gun and a hammer = free rolled fenders? I'm sure I'm simplifying it tho, somehow.

my suggestoin: call a shop that does body work/wheels/upgrades for lexus, mercedes and bmws. those 20s dont always fit straight in. especially those tucked wheels on the cars. they gotta roll those fenders and a shop that does it on those cars obviously wont do a crap job.

hope made: baseball bat/pole, heat gun, nail polish/touchup paint and LOTS of patience. a shop using a tool that rolls it, doesnt take long at all.

Just so I don't have to call a shop just to find out, how much should that run?

Just FYI.

I rolled my fenders the other day with a baseball bat. Not too hard just had to go real slow. paint chiped here and there. I just resprayed since my car's flat black at the moment.

Theres fender rolling tools that you can rent/purchase now from shops....theres a site that sells them for like $300 now, and theres some sites that even rents them out with a ridiculous deposit......but these fender rolling tools work like a charm. I had one for a while that i got for free when i had my old car :D
you just gotta heat up the paint, and roll slowly and do it over and over.......most people think it takes 10 minutes, but it should really take up to an hour to do ir correct..... It actually pulls the fenders out to 10mm or a little more depending on how much you roll them.....give me a few minutes to find the links to the websites....

also you can also have your fenders pulled/flared... i had it done to my other car, but that costs over $1,000 in labor/paint. :\
