TESLA - Model S (http://www.teslamotors.com/models/index.php)

http://www.autoblog.com/tag/tesla+model+s/

The Tesla Model S is a sedan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedan_%28automobile%29) in development by Tesla Motors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Motors). It is an electric car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_car) that was codenamed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_name) WhiteStar during research and preliminary development. It was announced in a press release (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Press_release) on June 30, 2008.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S#cite_note-randt-0)
It is expected to enter production by early- to mid-2011,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S#cite_note-1) with a price of $57,500 for the base model. The Model S will have a range (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Range) of 150 miles (240 km) or 300 miles (480 km) when fully charged, depending on the model.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S#cite_note-2)
The factory was planned to be located on 90 acres (36.4 hectares) in northern San Jose, California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Jose,_California),[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S#cite_note-3) but on March 26, 2009 the CEO announced that the production is being moved to an undisclosed location in Southern California.

Wow, looks dope! Very Aston Martinish front end.

I wonder if there are shades to pull over the gigantic glass roof because it'll be god dang hot in the summer.. and $57k doesn't seem too bad for such an exotic looking car.

50k seems reasonable really (taking into account the $7,500 tax credit).
it also seems to have decent power, doing the 0-60 in 5.5 secs.
i'd just like to know other performance specs, how solid it feels, & how reliable it is.
this could work.
if the economy doesn't go to shit, I think a lot of ppl can afford & would consider this.
willing to bet that at the very least it's more fun to drive than a lexus ls/gs (not that its much of a benchmark).

Isn't Tesla opening and making their Palo Alto location bigger?

So I don't think this thread title is too relevant anymore.

I sat in one of these. I did camera work for a French version of "Top Gear" and we went to one of their facilities. It's a pretty neat car.. Absolutely everything is electric, and the GPS is Google Maps with satellite imagery.

I think it's pretty cool, I'd buy one.
