werid cluster problem s14

well i bought my s14 with the guage cluster lights not working but it wasn't really a problem cause i thought it was light bulbs ... well went i turn my car on i can see the clock light is lite. when i go to turn my lights on the clock light turns off but is still working and none of my cluster lights for aside from brake/check engine/seat belt etc... and my gas speedo mph still work fine ... whats going on ...

Bingo. The clocks lights up with the key in accessory position, has nothing to do with the lighting circuit.

i checked all the fuses ... how do i check the dimmer switch ... i read somewhere about it might having to be the tcu but i never got ahold of another one to compare

There is no TCU on an S14.

really? so if all my fuses check out kool then its the dimmer switch ... it is connected ive pulled it out to switch clusters n light bulbs to just see but that wasnt it
