Saw this on the military channel, Porsche designed the world's largest tank ever made for Nazi, Germany. It was never put in to action and only two prototypes were made. It was called the Maus or Mouse.

Weight 188 tons... three times that of an M1 Abrams.
128mm cannon..
1200hp V12 diesel Daimler-Benz Engine..
9 inches of armor in most places...
top speed of 7MPH..

when my cousin was in the military he said they had some tanks that could reach freeway speed but of course they weren't as big as this one haha

Dude,,, M1 Abrams tank as i recall reaches a top speed of around 40mph. thats damn good cuz its equipped with 2.5 inch armor plate!!!!

Saw one of these in a museum. There were only two made, if I recall correctly. Thing is ridiculous in person.
It was pretty much a novelty tank. Used to casually drive through buildings and such.

And of course tank design has progressed since WWII.




After the Maus, Germany was planning to develop this, haha.
