How I survived Hiroshima – and then Nagasaki - Asia, World - The Independent (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/how-i-survived-hiroshima-ndash-and-then-nagasaki-1654294.html)
Apparently a handful of people experienced both blasts in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Tsutomu Yamaguchi was about a mile from the first blast in Hiroshima when it went off. The next day, half deaf and terribly burned he traveled back to Nagasaki to be with his family only to experience the next bomb from about 3 miles away.
I never knew there were some people out there who lived through both atomic bombings. I find it pretty amazing. The article says that this guy was the closest to ground zero at both bombings than any other survivor of both.

Actually alot of them don't have any hard feelings.. Japan is a very militaristic society and understand that the US was just doing what they would have done too.

this is very true
my japanese teacher living in america now
had a talk about the bombings and her true feelings on it since it is a touchy subject especially between japanese and american
she said she has no hard feelings at all and there is no anger
the pain is just felt for the people who went through it and hopes that a lesson can be learned from it

It was a war. The choices were invade Japan and suffer HIGH casualties (estimates were at minimum 1 million) or drop the bomb and intimidate them into surrender. It was a choice of ours or theirs... It had also been 6 years of solid war like had never been seen before. 50+ million dead... I think part of it was to just finally end it.
If the bomb hadn't been dropped... I likely wouldn't be alive today as my grandfather was already packed and ready to ship out for the eventual assault on the Japanese islands after the German surrender. He even said when he was still alive he didn't expect to survive that. Especially since he'd been in action since 1940 with the British Army... Luck only lasts so long. lolz

doubtful. how many americans still resent pearl harbor?
likewise:
Iwo Jima - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iwo_Jima#Reunion_of_honor)
most of the bad blood between the US and japan was quickly tucked under the carpet because of the US's interest in utilizing japan as a bulwark in asia against communist encroachment.

They attacked a military base on U.S. soil in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, totally had all those civilian deaths coming. Everyone's even now.

We are lucky to have never experianced or I havnt experianced the horrors of war other then a grandpa with PTSD. Thats why I support people fighting to keep us safe.My only real regret in life is that I didnt join them. We should all do are part during war time. Even if you dont believe in war or support it, support your niehbor or brother or whoever is out there fighting for us.The bombs were not cool but the japs had it coming, better them then us.
