People love to blame their bad health and obesity on the food. Thanks to these people the US food market is oversaturated with diet products, which taste horrible compared to products sweetened with real sugar, and in reality should only be consumed by diabetics, only because they are the lesser of two evils for them.
Eat what you like. Just do not be a dumb glutton and eat moderately and/or move around more. Obesity is the result of a lack of self-control, and of an unhealthy lifestyle.
Recently I have learned that the main reason why America started preferring corn syrup to sugar is because the sugar in soft drinks and food was making children too hyperactive.
That is horrible.
Luckily I have noticed that the diet product obsession is finally on the decline, it seems that some food makers are finally reverting back to sugar and more "organic" (in a non-hippie way) products.

BULLSHIT.
Corn Syrup has 2x the glycemic index as sugar. All the hype for corn syrup was made up by the Corn Industry.

Once again you say something smart but then follow it up with shear ignorance and stupidity.
Americans did not start preferring corn syrup to sugar. The manufacturers looked for a sugar based sweetener that was less expensive than pure cane sugar. Guess what? They found it in corn syrup. So they ran with it.
As for Coke and Mexican Coke.
Mexico has different cane sugar pricing than the U.S. So they can make the Coca Cola with the Original cane sugar recipe.
Now please try to get the real story Matej before posting dumb ass shit like you have a habit of doing.
Oh and please stop with your anti American conspiracy theory bullshit as well. If you don't like the U.S. just fucking leave.

WTF KIND of bullshit did i just read,
i clicked on In and Out, because they use real beef, real lettuce, etc. so like they say, you better learn to order a protein style because of that heavy carb bun. OBVIOUSLY. bread=carbs you dumbshits hah. so they complain that a double double MEAL, is heavy on calories....1000.....UM yeah. average active male needs to eat 2500-3000 calories a day. so if you eat a double double meal for breakfast lunch and dinner, youll be totally fine.
my vote on my 5 seconds of research, is not to believe a word they print!
haha. enjoy your day. im having fun with this.
Edit: I decided to click on KFC to see if this shit had any validity. KFC got a B, and in and out got a C+.....W T F. i rest my case.

I have the book, I have been only eating 1000-1500 calories a day. It seems to be helping, even though I'm only trying to lose 15 lbs.

I don't think the point of the article was to establish the restaurants that offer the best cooking.
when the chance arises that you're dining at places like that, you'd be fool to count calories.
I think the article is targeting the general populace & places ppl are likely to eat out everyday.
many ppl will probably never go to a 1-michelin star place in their entire life,
with a meal at applebees/in-&-out being the best they've ever had.
I've had co-workers who ate fast food every work day (gross rotation of McD's, Carl's, Taco Bell, etc).
Needless to say, most were an eyesore.
With ppl like that, if it means cutting out a 1-2k calories, it could make a difference.
places like the French Laundry, those of us who like that stuff might indulge twice a month at most.
I try go there once a year maybe.
it's not really going to effect your health anywhere near as much as what you eat daily.
other than that, i'm also glad offensive places like PF Chang's & Sbarro's got bad publicity.

i agree texas de brazil isn't a bad rodizio.
However, this isn't about the best place to eat.
I wish RJF would be bit more informative when he starts a thread.
ppl here have a tendency not to click on links, based on some of the responses.
Taken from link;
Eating out invariably raises a number of tricky questions: sit-down or drive-thru? Burgers or pizza? Thin or stuffed crust? Choosing one over the other could mean saving hundreds of calories in a single meal, and up to 50 pounds of flab in the course of a year and countless health woes over the course of a lifetime.
That’s why Eat This, Not That! launched an investigation and put 66 major chain restaurants under the nutritional microscope—so that you and your family can continue to eat out, but do so knowing the types of insider tips and savvy strategies that can help melt fat all year long. And the good news is that many fan favorites scored top marks!
To separate the commendable from the deplorable, we calculated the total number of calories per entrée. This gave us a snapshot of how each restaurant compared in average serving size—a key indicator of unhealthy portion distortion.
Then we rewarded establishments with fruit and vegetable side-dish choices, as well as for providing whole-grain options. Finally, we penalized places for excessive amounts of trans fats and menus laden with gut-busting desserts.
What we ended up with is the Eat This, Not That! Restaurant Report Card, which will show you how all of the nation’s largest eating establishments stack up nutritionally."
Link goes on to cover many chain places, their approx nutritional value, & gives it some scorecard of sorts.
I've actually gone to Jamba Juice more often, and eat hamburgers less as a result of reading this.
sodium content is also important unless you don't mind getting a stroke and/or heart attack.
