Hi everyone,

I had a specific question about the 5 speed conversion process that I was hoping people might be able to give their opinions on.

My question is what do you think is the best, while still not costing an arm and a leg, way to pick up all the parts for a 5 speed conversion?

I know for like the bigger items, like the actual transmission, its most cost effective to get a used one, but I'm wondering about the "smaller" stuff, like the master and slave cylinders and the necessary lines? Is it okay to use used cylinders? or should I get remanufactured ones? Go with stainless steel lines?

Another example is the boot console. Is $60 for a new one considered expensive?

or $40 for a new clutch assembly?

Thank you for your time.

Sorry about my noob question, I did try searching...so please don't flame on me or w/e. its just hard to find s14 5 speed conversion parts. I've been trolling for a while in the "for sale" but they're rare parts.

I guess it's up to how much you feel like spending. I paid $300 for a complete swap including an almost new Spec clutch and a short throw shifter. Then I paid ~$50 for a shifter boot from redlinegoods.com

If you think something it too expensive it probly is.

Buy new lines. If I remember right, the hardline that goes from the master cylinder down to that stupid block is like $15 brand new from nissan, also get a braided stainless softline, admit it, you'll probably end up buying one down the road anyway. Also get new/remanufactured master and slave cylinders, that will save you headache and bleeding time down the road. Clutch should be obvious, if its not obvious, buy new. Everything else get used stuff, those lower rubber boots are important if you value your sanity, but theyre expensive new.
