I know most people on this forum are performance minded. I got to ask this though. I think i'm gettin real bad mileage. I don't always shift at 2500 hehehe... but i don't keep the thing at redline all the time either. I usually get between 260 and 280 a tank depending on the weather. What is everybody else getting?

I have an S14 and get around 375 to a tank driving 90% in city and 10% on the highway. I recently cut off my exhaust after the resonator, It improved my gas mileage 3mpg in town and 4mpg on the highway.

New air filter and 300zx fuel filter are the basic replacements to better mileage.

26-27 miles in the city
an aluminum crank pulley improve gas mileage, exaust help too, and of course regular maintenance.

I usually get like 350 a tank but lately it has been a lot worse occasionally. Probably a sensor is intermitantly failing.

drift into curb: how would a 300zx fuel filter help get better gas mileage? i thought it would do the opposite, cuz doesnt it allow for more fuel flow? please explain.
cuz im about to replace my fuel filter (probably tomorrow), and id like to know the advantages of getting a 300zx one. thanks.

GotSileighty, there's no proven advantage. You don't really need a 300zx fuel filter, but they are supposed to be cheaper in price than the 240sx ones. Maybe a larger filter area? I read it somewhere... hmm search..

The advantage comes from a clean fuel filter instead of a dirty one you probably never replaced since you've had the car or the person before you.

I always get at least 300 miles before the light comes on. But I try to prevent that, since I don't want to suck up the crap at the bottom of the tank. This winter, I've been getting 22-24mpg because of warming up my car. This past tank I got 25mpg--it's getting warmer outside, so it doesn't sit and run as long. The best I've gotten is 31mpg--250 miles highway trip--filled up before I left & when I got back to see what mileage I'd get--and this was in middle of summer w/ the AC on.

360 miles out of a tank when I don't keep my foot in it, and I don't fill up til it's damn near THROUGH, and generally about 300-320 when I drive like an ass...

Recorded my worst mileage ever last week, 23.5mpg driving around town and whatnot. 29.9 driving to Las Vegas. I'm actually kind of dissapointed, I usually track 31 or so on that drive :-( Just Finished general maintenance a couple thousand miles ago. . .

Well, typically I fill my car up around 360-400 mpt and the most I have EVER put in my car was recently it took 16.5 gallons. Personally I think the quality of gas might be going down recently, just because of little things like my car does not seem like it is getting all of its power or quite as many miles on the car (however with the power, it could be one of two things: a sensor or I am soo used to the performance now, that I need to get more power as I have already installed a 300zx fuel filter recently and just cleaned my air filter a few weeks before that).
Gas light in the S14 comes on around 3 gallons roughly still in the tank. You can go PLENTY far with that gas light on seeing as how you have a 17.1 gallon tank in the S14's. I used to fill up (a VERY LONG time ago) when the needle was close to E. Then one day I experimented to see how low I could get it. MAN, that thing is BURIED before I ever fill up. And if for some reason it stops working, I would still fill up around 350 mpt since there should still be gas in there at that point.
Oh and this is with a lot of city driving, mixed with short (like 10-15 minute) freeway trips to work and back.
BTW, nobody seemed to ask, do you have an S13 or S14? Not sure how comparable on TANK wise they are, but on MILEAGE wise they should be about the same.

28mpg like a religion in the summer provided it's at least 50/50 city highway miles.
Per tank, it goes about 300miles till a 1/4 tank is left (it's pretty damn cose to 100 miles per 1/4 mark on the guage).
Wintertime drops to around 24mpg
Tracktime is probably 20ish. At lunch time, lapping 50mph in third gear for half an hour you can literally watch the needle fall.

I recently got an average of 29mpg on a 2900+ mile road trip. Anywhere from 27-31mpg. Before that, I think my highest fuel economy was around 23mpg with 60% city / 40% highway driving.
In those conditions, I'd get maybe 300 a tank. On this latest road trip, I got around 420 per tank (as the highest mpg). I never let the fuel dummy light stay on long, and I drive an S13 (meaning it comes on when I have about 2 gallons left.

19-21mpg in the city. About 23 with a 50/50 city/highway routine.
It seems bad, but I think it's just Tampa.
I can't get my Fiero to get more than 22-23 here, and it's a stock car.
In Englewood (little town) I got 26 with my KA-T and 29 with the Fiero.
