A good source of info would be www.240sx.org
Read the FAQ section, you'll learn a lot about the car you own

Hi! Welcome! Umm... what do you know about it now? You know the stats, right? HP, Torque, Drivetrain layout, all the other stuff... You have any questions about it? Post! Welcome to zilvia!

Hello, your car has a 140HP SOHC 12 valve engine. The popular engine swap for the car as you may know is the SR20DET or a CA18DET. The SR came with either 205 HP or 215 HP or 250 HP depending on what version you would swap in. There was a turbo kit recently made for your SOHC engine so that is another possibility. What year is your corolla? Because if your looking for a quicker car in the straight's or in the turns the 240sx would be a better car.

my corolla is a 89 Trueno GT-Z supercharged version...
i havent really took the s13 out for a run yet.. but i can tell the trueno feels more solid in the corners.. maybe if i beef up the suspension..
i dont know the HP /TQ specs.. i was told it has a 2.4L engine... im guessing this thing eats.. gas?...
what kind of OCT should i use?
what kind of oil? and how many quarts?
also my 1st gear kinda of srtaches sometimes.. very rare .. but it happens.. bad syncro?..

the trueno is suppost to be one of the best drifting car to date. so i dont feel bad the S13 is a little behind it...

toyota never brought the trueno-style corolla to this side of the water. how did you get it?

the main toyota's, particularly the ae86's that were pretty much set up nice for drifting weren't brought over to the states w/ the same specs as they were overseas. there was an article on these bad ass cars on one that's in the states in this month's issue of either super street or sport compact car, can't remember which one it is.

Actually, I believe our AE86 GTS is the same as JDM, except cosmetics. (I actually was going to buy one of these when I started the trail that ended at my s14.) A 1989, however, would be an FWD AE92, IIRC. The 4A-GZE isthe motor from the 1st Gen. MR2 (supercharged). Again, IIRC, that motor never came in the AE92 in the US. As for handling, perhaps its just in better shape than your 240, b/c those cars have few defenders in the world of handling.
Now, what's really bothering me is that your handle is CRXSiR (not USDM) and you own a Trueno (not USDM), and a 240? Fill us in a bit on where you are and what you are looking for and I'm sure you will find us helpful.

i have a AE92 GT-S with a JDM Trueno GT-Z front clip conversion w/ a JDM 4A-GZE MAP sensor engine..
i think the GT-S handles better ONLY because i dont know how to drive RWD .. im pretty much scared shitless of this S13.. haha...
as for my CRXsiR handle.. i use it everywhere.. i have always wanted a CRX .. but just havent got around to it yet.. hope nobody gives me hate b/c i like hondas.. b/c i do.. i like CARS...
i was wondering how much HP does my car have? and does it already have sway bars and etc... cuz my GTS has all of those.. i was thinknig about getting some...

Gotcha - it's always odd when someone says, I have car "X", when car "X" was never here. Of course the internet being what it is, you may be in Aust, w/ grey market Nissan or Canada w/ ??, or here w/ a front clip conversion The CRX name really threw me off. I understand though - a handle is a handle.
The AE92 w/ that motor ought to be a good set up for power - what 145 hp stock? But I know that that car lost a lot in performance to the 86 (I think you were lucky enough to get Ind. Rear. Susp.
About the 240 - the advice given above is correct. With an intake and exhaust (low $ mods), you can probably get enough power to match the Corolla. As for suspension, a set of springs and shocks/sturts will do you proud. Lurk around and you will see there are all sorts of possibilities for your "other car." See you around...

yea the 4A-GZE i have puts out 165 HP..
hows the gas on the 2.4L?.. im using 89 octane right now. i really want to know more aobut this engine/chasis.. i know the s13 is very popular with drifters as is the AE86..
the reason i opted for the AE92 was because at the time i REALLY didnt want a RWD.. couldn't handle it.. i spun out a few times on "public roads" and pretty much scared me straight haha.. but learning more about the RWD setup has made me give it another chance .. so that what i want out of the 240.. i just want to learn to drive it well.. i already almost lost control once ... just last night.. took a turn and stepped on the gas too soon...
try not to shift gears mid turn in the rain either .. u'll be in for a little suprise unless u feather the clutch out sooooo smooth.. any shake in the drivetrain and BYE BYE Back end it sure is fun tho.... most of the time.

Hey, speaking of the 86, anyone here ever seen the anime series Initial-D? A friend of mine sent me an episode, and it's awesome! It's all about racing and drifting etc. The main character drives an 86
Yea, that Cartoon is freaking sweet, I watch the second season, I've been trying to get all their episodes, very fun to watch.

re: Initial D - I read that it is being dubbed for DVD and sent for release in the US. Keeps you from paying the huge markups on black market copies, if you are willing to wait a month or two.
re: new 240 - gas mileage sucks (I have newer dohc and get low 20's/gal.). Control comes with practice. The 240 is one of the most agile balanced cars I have ever driven and has received much praise in the automotive press for its skills. In my experience, moving from a well prepared EG Civic hatch (the ultimate Civic) to the s14 - I was able to gain time in lapping and autox events against my friends times. Still, driving RWD takes a lot more skill - but also offers a lot more rewards. Get used to driving it safely first, then find some open space (e.g., pkg lot, autox, etc.) to play with it and learn it's limits. Don't try it on the streets, b/c the 240 is tail-happy and prone to "snap-spinning" (which is NOT cool on a public road). Otherwise, welcome to power-on oversteer. Enjoy the slide!
