hey i just picked up a 90 s13 with a ka24de-t. i have gutted it completely dash and all. in the process of making lexan windows. have cut the guts of the doors and hatch out. i am going to be removing sound deadening and i am thinking about stitch welding the chassis.

the car will be mostly for drag racing.
-should i stitch weld the chassis?
-can i run a harness with my stock s13 seat without a cage?
-can i remove the hatch completely and make one out of a piece of lexan with a thin frame with pins to hold it on?

wow i guess there are still people out there drag racing hehe.

-if you are building it for drag stitching wont help as much as a cage, also you should be concerned with squat in the rear, so no stiff coilovers with huge spring rate.

n-o need to run a harness. you are drag racing. come on now..

-lexan hatch? thats ghetto as hell. there are carbon fiber hatches out there and you can lexan a window for it. or dont run one at all - its a track car isnt it??

This tread looks boring. Go search for my 2/4 tread on the sales board. Take my boost designs pieces. That will get you off to the proper start for a ka/t race/ track first time build.

Whats stitch weld? I know what spot weld is?
Does stitch welding mean you weld from the outer point, then flip it over & stitch again?

What does cut the guts of the doors & hatch?
Best regards.

Go look at that old s13 with the green te/37's & the fans in the rear for the cooling of the fuel box etc.

stitch welding is ponitless.

how fast do you want to go in 1/4?

Drag Racing crashes are gnarly as shit and almost always at high speed.

If Drifters need a harness I should sure as hell hope that you would have the sense to put one iun your drag car.

i know that i need a harness. the rear just has some megan racing springs on kybs now. this year is just going to be on stock motor. going to run as much power as possible. if i blow it up no big deal. i was thinking about a simple 4 point cage. whay is welding the chassis so important for drifting and not drag? should i run both swaybays?

the track i go to told me i cant run without front windows so i figured i cant run without a hatch either

you dont need a harness.. i run the stock seat belt in my 10sec s13 with a sparco seat. you only need a cage if you go 11.25 and you need a 6point for anything faster then 11.25.. The 4 point and the 2 side door bars.. dont waste money in a cage yet..

Because drag cars don't see the same things drift cars see. The seams on a drag car aren't going to pull apart because of suspension stiffness, et cetera.

Get rid of both sway bars, no need for them and run stock struts and springs in the rear.

jesus christ, i dont think you understand what your getting into, especially buying a car already built.. you don't need to "stitch weld" the chassis if your going in nothing but a straight line. Can you run a harness, yeah you can figure it out yourself. Can you remove the hatch and make a new one? I don't know, can you? are you able to? No offense but just like the car was originally built by someone else, don't expect others to build it for you by walking you through what to do here, what to do there... Do your own research and make your own decisions.. who cares what we say or think? This is your car do what you want..

yes i can. i know i can do what i want. i was just looking for any input. thought maybe someone had seen it done before. and for your info i didnt buy it built, i built it but that was irrelivent and i work on cars everyday(its my job) so take it deep. i asked about stitch welding because im new to 240's and rwd drag cars but thanks.

my stock seat belts were ripped apart. did any 240 come with belts that do not self retract?
