I have blown my GR2's in less than a year on stock springs. Probably didn't get more than 8K miles on them. Only susp mod is SPL front tc rods. I had AGX's before and got maybe 25K or so from them before the first one went so thinking about going back to them or Im going to try the Monroe sensa-tracs. I heard good things abt them on other cars but never heard much abt them on the 240sx. So what will last longer I guess and are the AGX's as smooth at the lowest setting as the Monroes. I know the rear I could adjust to softer than I wanted but the fronts were a little stiffer on the first setting than I liked. But they were much better than these GR2's. I'll pay abt $80 more for the AGX's. To get warrany Ill have to spend about $25 each time to send them back where I can get the Monroes from O'reillys and not spend money on shipping each time they blow.

I was researching monroes and a lot of people (mostly with domestics) say they are not worth it, too soft or something like that. IMO, i would go for the AGX.

How many strut threads are you going to start?

arent Monroes stock replacements or the company that manufacture the stock struts for 240s id say agxs cause they are adjustable

Why.. what do u mean not have to worry about it anymore?? They are expensive. I don't really want something real stiff and don't want to lower the car. Im not going to be racing.. just street. Most of these have a yr as opposed to the lifetime warranty.

yea GR2's were horrible.. i will not get those again. I assume monroes will be similar. No one has said anything good or much abt them. I stepped down from AGX to GR2 thinking theyd last longer but they didn't. So I'm going back to AGX or kind of considering the Tokico D specs but they will be another $140 more than the AGX's. I think they have lifetime warranty as well, not sure. Anyone have experience with d specs on stock springs?? Like how smooth are they and how soft can they be adjusted. Your probably wondering why not just get ones from Nissan.. they are like $220 for fronts (each) and they only have a 1yr warranty. So thats the reason I don't want oe or oe equivalent.

the question is, what the hell are you doing where you are toasting your shocks so quickly?

a shock should last anywhere from 60-100k. springs are recommended but not mandatory to change at 100k.

i ran tokico springs and shocks many years ago (non adjustable) and they were fantastic bang for the buck, loved them and kicked tons of ass on the street with em. i believe the shocks are lifetime warranty too.

at this point, i dont think warranty is a big issue.. instead, you should try to figure out why you're blowing your suspension so prematurely. maybe something else is shot and effecting your shocks? springs possibly? dunno, but seems odd.. ive never heard people complain about prematurely blowing their shocks

I have no idea why they are blowing so fast. I drive it mainly on city roads and they are bad but still I don't get it. Rear springs were replaced about 4 yrs ago. Fronts are original. My rear shocks are gone too, so its not just the fronts going out. Ive been very disappointed to say the least!! But Ive had a lot of issues with this car since I got it, though, its very clean. I need to post some pics here I guess to prove it. Sorry to get off topic but here is a list of what I've replaced: oil pan and crank seals twice and now the rear main seal, abs sensor, knock, o2 sensors, 2 egr sensors, abt to change struts for the 3rd time, gromets in tranny, valve cover, rear diff.. Power steering rack and pump went out after getting it back from oil pan seal replacement in '99. Found out last summer when having the oil pan seal done for the 2nd time that they probably disconnected lower hose and let all the fluid out and forgot to fill it before they started it. Starter twice and ign key lock cylinder just a month ago when I had the exedy st 1 clutch/fidanza fw put in. Which thats another huge problem. Now they are telling me the bearings in my tranny are gone. I posted a thread on this one. And the starting issue hasn't been completely resolved either after about $2K in labor and parts since January. So basically I now have 2 major issues: struts (which have been putting off because of oil leak and clutch), and the clutch/fly/tranny problems. Now they are telling me $1500 min for a rebuilt tranny but am having other problems with clutch since the install so it will probably be a lot more than that. Though the clutch seemed smooth for the 1st 800miles but now I can't shift smoothly by keeping the car from shaking. Now its wont decelerate smoothly. Yea I don't get it! Car has abt 118K on it and has been daily driven and washed like once every other week. Sorry to drag on but I can't help it at this point.

I think you should go to O'reilly's and buy a fucking paragraph. Then send it out for a free indentation.

i notice youre in texas.. what type of roads are you driving on? if you're driving on dusty roads i wouldnt be surprised if its working its way into your shocks and wearing out the seals. dust plays havoc on seals

ide look into doing your own mechanical work, save you a ton of money and help troubleshoot things better. that, or find a better shop. sounds like youre paying through the nose for work that may not be diagnosed properly.

DFW area, mainly Arlington.

yea I wish i had the equipment, space and the patience. I'm on my 4th shop with this car since '97 which is basically my first real car. Took it to the dealership once for warranty work and they fried my power steering so that was it for them. The shop I use currently said there is a well know Nissan tech, AJ, at Urban Nissan. Been working on Nissans like 30yrs so I'm going to try taking it back to him after I get the struts put in next week. I feel like thats my last resort at this point.
