So my stock ka24 has a pretty loud knock/tick sound at idle. When it revs up the sound goes away. It's LOUDEST momentarily as the revs return to idle, like when i come to a stop.

I did the old screwdriver to the ear trick and it's definitely coming from the front of the motor, right in the center where the distributor shaft gears are. I took the dizzy out and the only weird thing I see are little like "skidmarks" diagonally across the faces of the gear's teeth.... not gouges, just visibly rubbed clean there, on every little tooth.

So I'm pretty sure it's distributor shaft or bearing..... or timing chain loose & slapping. Does this car have a chain or a belt?? Sounds metallic for sure.

Is this a problem any of you have had, to where you can tell me pretty much by the explanation?? Thanks
