I swapped in S14 belts in my 91 240. Since the main point on those is the lap belt socket, that part has been popping out randomly. I remember nissan having a recall on the s13 seat belts anyway. So if I take it to a Nissan Dealer they have to fix the belts for free right?

Hmmm, if there was a recall, I think you might have a hard time getting your s13 seat belts fixed if you have S14 belts. I'm too lazy to look it up but IMO you'd probably have an easier time getting them fixed @ the dealership if they were the OEM s13 belts...

Ah see that's what the problem is. See the piece that keeps letting go is the factory s13 piece. where the lap belt used to go. i didn't change or move those at all. So I figure since that's the failure point it should be covered under warranty. The S14 belts don't really have any other problems with them.

If you still have the S13 belts, do they work with the buckle? If they do, you can rule out the buckle as being defective. Swap the S14 buckle if you can. Nissan probably won't warranty your belts since you swapped to the S14s (tampered).

Nah the stock S13 belt doesn't work with it anymore either. So eh... They probably won't due anything since I swapped in S14 belts though. So it's probably an annoyance I'll have to fix myself.

for recalls on old cars is there a time span in which it becomes void. considering the fact that the s13 is about 20 years old with nissan uphold its word and still cover it if the recall has never been done on the car?

On stock belts, sure. But I don't know if they will honor it since you altered your safety equipment.
