A - PLEASE use the search!
B - best thing you can do on an engine that new is just get a tune up.

Reasonable price, best power, fewest problems.
Read up man. None of those things go together, welcome to the tuner world. Everything is a sacrifice, less power = more reliablility, more power = less reliable AND more expensive.
Unless you have at least $5,000 ready to go, put this thought out of your head, buy your girlfriend a nice tennis bracelet or something.

Turbo chargeing it is a preety good idea. whould that be better than perhaps puttnig an s14 motor in it?

You have an s14
If your engine is still new (low milage) turbo it. If not, then get the sr20det. You already have an S14. An S14 is a chasiss code. I suggest you do a search. Zilvia as well as other 240sx boards have A LOT and i mean A LOT of info.

If you turbocharge it, don't forget to keep the boost fluid topped up. ;)

okay, he has a 97, unless it has a ridiculous amount of miles on it, I think it would be REALLY STUPID to ditch a perfectly good KA for an SR.
Not to generalize, but if the shoe fits...
you sound an awful lot like the newbs that come around here praising the word of JDM to the car gods, blah blah blah... KA's can be built up just as well, and if you have a newer KA, I don't see why you wouldn't turbo it, or build a better n/a machine.
oh, and so you don't think I"m biased, I have both KA and SR powered 240s.

But, if he can't appreciate the KA engine, he could always sell it to someone who does. It's not like no one has ditched a good KA for an SR before... with the recent boom in KA turbo cars, it's not like he wouldn't be able to get a good price for a good KA. I paid around $700 for mine, for instance.

Good point. Its all up to you man. Do your research. Everyone has their own opinion.

I am in a similar situation... I have a 97 also, only thing is that mine is pushing 130k... I have about 4500 to spend so i was thinking of getting the s14 sr20det, but i through some research i found that many prefer the redtop because of the availability of parts and lower cost. Is the s14 worth the extra 1000? It does come with possibly salvagable body panels...
