So I haven't done much to my car lately, and I rarely drive it b/c I'm still waiting for my ecu to finish being tuned. I've been reading Om1krons thread( http://zilvia.net/f/chat/223745-om1krons-build-thread-cause-i-hate-lack-them-s14.html ) and have been insprired, somewhat, by what his work w/his harness. Now I'm not gonna completely pull my harness, but I'd like to clean it up a bit, if possible. What I'd like to do is get rid of extra connectors that are not connected to anything, kinda like this:

I was wondering what would be the best way to remove them. I ask for the best way, b/c if it was up to me, I'd just cut them off, heat shrink/tape the ends and make the wire blend into the stock loom. Should I try to push out the connectors and tape those, or would I be ok just cutting them. I've been told to trace the wires back to the ecu, but I just can't see that being neccessary considering that they aren't connected to anything. I'm not trying to accomplish a huge weight savings or anything, just clean up the harness a little. Feel free to chime in.

You can cut the connector of, just make sure you cut on wire at a time because you will have a possibility of shorting the system out. Also make sure you tape the ends separately to decrease any chances of shorting as well

Yeah, I'll have the battery disconnected first before I do anything, and each wire will be individually taped. Am I right in assuming that those connectors should not be sharing anything vital w/other connectors?

If you don't want to de-loom the harness and de-pin it, just cut the connector off and throw it in a box, don't throw it away. And heat shrink the ends separately then tape them together and put them to the side.
Then put your loom or sleeving over them, simple as pie really.

you never know if your gonna need it down the road in the future. or if some one is looking for a connector like that that you can give/sell to them. just because your particular car does not use it does not mean no car uses them. it just may be an option you did not get on the car

Thats what I figured, I went ahead and cut the harness and taped it up and there were no problems.
I'll do somemore at another time. I did however discover that I have my first crack on my dash, and that really pissed me off b/c I have been thinking about getting a cover or sun visor recently just to prevent something like this from happening :(

Installed, yes but I'm still waiting for the tune to be finished. I have 550's waiting to b installed and then turn up the boost.....but as I've told u before, I only trust 1 person to touch my car and he's been MIA since he had to move out of his shop, and the guy who tunes will only finish the tune when everything is ready.....he doesn't want me to spend money twice. It's hard b/c the money is burning a hole in my pocket!
