S14 Pulleys? HELP!!!

Hi, im looking to get pulleys for my S14 SR20det becuase, when i bought the engine i had no acc. pulleys on it, i see the Circuit sports ones and the Megan racing ones. i dont know which ones will actually work on my engine, im fine with a little modification but im looking for more info on what will fit better...and i have searched and found no answer... Thanks all

Do you have a 3 rib or a 4 rib PS on the crank pulley?

If it goes:
Block
5 Rib
4 Rib
4 Rib

You can use S13 Pulleys.

If it goes:
Block
5 Rib
4 Rib
3 Rib

You need a S14 set.


As far as brands. They are all Aluminum Clones of the OEM pulleys. Just pick what color you like.

Unless you get a under drive water pump pulley. But this is usually sold by itself not in a set.

Yeah i bought an S13 Crank pulley, my only concern was the alt pulley cuz i heard back spacing was different but idk...

I have found them to be the same. S13 kit should be fine.

I'm sure S14DB knows more than I do, but I've read in an article for Dinan BMW about how underdrive & crank pulleys (modified) can eventually hurt the engine / drivetrain.

But I'm sure it's more of a longterm effect.

The theory behind the power pulley is that a reduction in the speed of the accessory drive will minimize the parasitic losses that rob power from the engine. Parasitic power losses are a result of the energy that the engine uses to turn accessory components such as the alternator and water pump, instead of producing power for acceleration. In an attempt to minimize this energy loss, many companies claim to produce additional power by removing the harmonic damper and replacing it with a lightweight assembly. While a small power gain can be realized, there are a significant number of potential problems associated with this modification, some that are small and one which is particularly large and damaging!

He is talking about the cranky pulley in that article. Removing the Harmonic Damper and under driving the accessory's. All through the crank pulley. I see no mention of any other pulleys but the crank. It also can be said that he is talking exclusively about the E36 BMW.


We are talking about replacing the steel accessory pulleys with aluminum parts that are the same dimensions. But it really doesn't matter cause they have nothing to do with crankshaft harmonics.


My point is just cause you see an article on A pulley. Do not think it applies to every pulley on the engine.
