so far, everyone's who I've talked to has never said anything about this but....
A friend of mine's Dad was talking to me about my soon-to-be turbo setup. He was thinking that if I don't fully build the engine, I'd be blowing it up.
I can almost see where he's coming from, he blew an Alpha engine after having the psi set to 24 for a while...but I'm thinking of only 7psi...I've heard that the only thing that you'll "need" to do is the fuel injectors(although some people argue that). Any idea how strong the rods & pistons are?
(for those of you who frequent the freshalloy boards, I'll be posting there as well)
I run about 11 psi with proper fuel system and no rebuild and its fine. My car is all set to run 24+ psi, all I need is to built the motor.
7-8psi is the max you can run on a s13 KA.

What is the difference between the s13 and s14 KA West?
Why can the s13 only handle 7-8psi?

i think its just because the stock internals of the older ka engines used in the s13 just aren't as strong as the newer ka's. correct me if i'm wrong

all I'm looking for is 7psi...I'm sure it'll take me a while to get over that increase (like 3 weeks) <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
I'm thinking about the nsport stage1 kit <a href="http://www.nsport.com/PowerStages.html" target='_blank'>http://www.nsport.com/PowerStages.html</a>

Looking at the price of these turob kits... why do you bother? Just get the SR engine for the same price, and you will have an engine with a much smaller mileage and have the same power.

my KA has less then 10k miles on it. and the HP will be higher then a stock SR20....and cheaper to replace parts, easier to find/get parts. and from what I've heard from people doing the SR swaps....they spend at least this. and how are you going to know for sure how many miles are on the SR? or who drove it before, and how hard?

I agree. Knowing the guys in Japan, they run their cars HARD. Plus, there is much more availability of parts for the KA. I think I am slowly leaning towards turbocharging the KA v. getting the SR.
