Im guessing its either the timing chain itself or the guides. If it is the guides, will Nissan take them off free of charge? I thought I remember reading that this was a recall some time ago.

lol....

If you drive it long enough they will take them selfs off and you can retrieve them by taking off you oil pan.... so in a way i guess yes a nissan will take them off for free....

it was a service bulletin, It was not a recall. It was the top timing chain guide and Nissan will not remove it for you for free. Its easy to remove yourself just remove your valve cover and its right there. I suggest if you are getting a lot of noise do it now. You wait to long and it could be catastrophic.

^What he said.
ALSO, remove the front upper timing cover, and pull the guide there as well, and make sure the tensioner is in proper working order.

Thanks guys. I don't have a torque wrench yet so that's why I was wondering if Nissan would do it for free but I'll purchase one next month. And yes, its recently gotten louder (before it was the much quieter rattle you'd hear) so I want to take it off asap.
