Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone in here is applying / in process for Customs And Border Protection Officer?

Have you seen the places where they have checkpoints? There are checkpoints in the middle of the desert where you'll check 5 to 10 cars in a day if you're lucky. And then at the end of the day you still live in the middle of nowhere.

Nay, but I'm going for CHP.

Wouldn't mind being Border Patrol, but they aren't allowed to do their job.

Its better than doing Border Patrol Agent....CBP does checkpoints also, I'm trying to get into JFK where is closer at home...They're about to put me in WA...the reason I was asking because I'm sorta done with the pre-employment package...just wana see if anyone in here is going for it as well...

I was SOO close to getting in the LASD.

Was up to the polygraph. Dipshit mother fucker (rage) said I was cheating and DQ'ed me. And my background investigator was shady and lost some of my papers and blamed me for saying I was late on paper work.

Well then fuck the LASD, don't want to work in a jail for the rest of my life anyways.

(btw, my stepdad is a Lt. in the LASD, his son got in in two weeks)

^^^I went thru USAJOBS.gov..that's how I got this one, i passed everyone that I signed up for, only this CBP officer out in WA came back with a package...

At the CBP Job Fair's almost all the open positions were along the New Mexico border. A few in AZ but most were NM. Said to expect to go out in that area if you passed the Test and were accepted.

Did you go to a job fair and take the pre-test and get signed up for the real test?

I actually took the actual exam a year ago when they were hiring at JFK...i havent heard anything since. Recently I signed up for it again when they have opening out WA northern borders...I thought I had to retake the exam again, but they sent me a notice thru email said I passed...I looked at the score, its the same score as the JFK one, so i assume they subsitute it or something...

Anyone else?

I recieved a letter yesterday from CBP. I have to go for a VBT (Video Based Test) next month, and I have to go for medicals next Monday...a bit nervous, but I hope I'll get in...Does anyone know what is a VBT? I googled it, but not getting much out of it. I want to know the details so maybe I can prepare myself. Oh by the way, if I do get the job offer, I have to go WA...Whats out there in WA??

How's the living out in WA...I dont know which part I will be assigned to if I do get hired, but I was wondering in general..What's the average rent would be? etc etc..I'm pretty nervous about this, I will be going away all on my own...

^^^I assume west, where border btwn Vancouver, correct me if I'm wrong, I think the port of entry is there.
