LOVELAND, Ohio — Pranav Veera can recite the names of the U.S. presidents in the order they served in office. He can say the alphabet backward. Give him a date back to 2000, and he'll tell you the day of the week.
He's only 6 years old.

VIDEO: Pranav knows his numbers

At first glance, Pranav is a typical young boy who is highly competitive at playing Wii video games and likes to play outside. A closer look reveals he's anything but typical.

Pranav has an IQ of 176. One person in 1 million has an IQ of 176 or above. Albert Einstein's IQ was believed to be about 160. The average IQ is 100.

When Pranav was 4-and-a-half, his parents noticed he seemed unusually intelligent while playing with alphabet sets. He could even recall which letters were certain colors.

"That kind of puzzled us," said his father, Prasad Veera. "You have to have not a normal memorization, but some other means of recall."

Now, he loves all kinds of alphabets.

"He loves to collect them, like different colors, different sizes, different materials," said his mother, Suchitra Veera.

The Veeras decided to have Pranav tested three months ago at Powers Educational Services in Hyde Park, Ohio.

"I said, 'Let's try it out, because he seems to do a lot of stuff kind of not quite normal for his age,' " his father said. "He tested 176."

He seems to have a photographic memory, so keeping Pranav engaged and learning is a big challenge for his family.

His mother and grandmother, Shanta Sastri, work with him at home.

They're guided by his focus and interests.

"The way to get him interested is to associate something with numbers, like presidents' birthdays … and when they came into office," his mother said.

"Once we introduced him to the idea, he was asking more and more questions, so we created a spreadsheet for him in Excel, and he keeps on asking us to add more types of information to it, like sort them in the order that they came into office, sort them in the order when they were born," she said.

In prekindergarten, his teacher had him do more challenging work, such as division and telling time. In kindergarten, his classmates are learning the alphabet and numbers up to 100. He's counting over 1 million.

"He's an amazing child," said Marci Taylor, his teacher at McCormick Elementary in the Milford School District. "He knows so much, yet he's probably more excited about learning than any child I've ever seen. He shakes with excitement."

Pranav knows so many incredible things, she said, but what's also impressive is that he's still a 6-year-old boy.

"He loves to go play at recess and climb on the monkey bars," Taylor said.

It's possible that Pranav might eventually have his learning accelerated, even by skipping grades, but his father said they would have to consider that with his social needs. "We want him to be as normal as possible," his father said.

"Right now, it's kind of early, and we can do a lot at home," his mother added. "We have to figure out what works best, because I think it's different for each child."Pranav draws his intelligence from both sides of the family.

His father has a Ph.D. and his mother has two master's degrees.

What does Pranav want to be when he grows up?

"An astronaut," he said without hesitation.

Truly, for Pranav, the sky's the limit.

That's just refuckingdiculous. I can't even imagine what goes on in his little brain.

My mom apparently had me tested when I was a chitlin and just told me mine a few weeks ago. I scored a 146 and my mom told me that's why throughout Middle School and High School she and my dad didn't worry very much when I did poorly in a class because I would always complain how boring they were.

What's Zilvia's IQ? No need to be a dirty little liar.

• 50% of IQ scores fall between 90 and 110

• 70% of IQ scores fall between 85 and 115

• 95% of IQ scores fall between 70 and 130

• 99.5% of IQ scores fall between 60 and 140

• 5% of people have an IQ under 70. This is generally considered as the emblem for “mental retardation”, a situation of limited mental abilities and the scorers face hardships in all fields of life and specially adapting to the demands of life.

Brains are crazy.

i took the ACT when i was 12 and got like an 18. never did better than a 28 when i took it for real. but i have a buddy who scored a 16 our junior year, so i guess he's retarded or something. he studied like all month for it too.

also i used to like model trains a lot. had a 4x8 train board in the basement. had a mountain on one side. two tunnels. had little lights in the tunnel. little light up houses. light up train station. light up Big Boy. little carousel. ferris wheel. dunk tank.
lotsa plaster of paris. lotsa grass that you sprinkled onto a coat of elmer's glue. had a collection of those handcart dudes that look like this

bachmann makes them, we bought them at train shows, got the vintage ones in funky colors, probably have a dozen different ones. also called a gandy dancer

what does any of this have to do with this thread, so messed up right now

Wow. Just... wow.

I was IQ tested in elementary school. Scored a 150-something or other.
I took another IQ test my senior year of high school; scored a 138.

I've had a few concussions since then, so I'm sure its down to the 110s or 120s by now.

Same fucking shit happened to me.

I got put into magnet schools and special programs, then i hated it because everyone was a fucking stuckup brainy asshole, so i went back to regular school.

I bet my IQ is down to like 90 now from all the MTV.

My general IQ is 126 but I have some learning disabilities. If I didn't have LDs it'd be higher by at least ten points.

My LDs are weird to me. I have a bellow average working memory(84) but I have a far above average long term memory recall(about 130). I end up with all this knowledge and the total inability to organize it for others. It's very frustrating.

Yeah, now that I think about it I remember taking that test because right after they put me in GATE and some creative art class that barely anyone got to be in. I remember being very confused as to why I was all of a sudden in these classes and was pissed.

I HATED it and flunked on purpose and, went back to my normal classes.

i'd be too embarrassed to take an IQ test. i know it cant be good, im kind of a dumbass sometimes. :keke: i have the street smartz, i am however a handicap in the classroom. i guess when i think about it, im pretty happy i have social skills. moreso than the nerdy smart kids that cant function without their mommies around. :keke: oh wells, so im prob stupid. life goes on i guess. :D

The IQ tests test your ability to learn, not what you already know. People that have "street smarts" or common sense tend to do better than those who can regurgitate dates and names.

haha, same shit here. We should start a club... "People who flunked out of GATE and AP classes intentionally because they were boring, hated being around 'gifted' kids, and would rather be in classes with average idiots."

Though, I regret it a bit now. If I'd stuck with all that, I would've had a scholorship to a good university, I would've graduated by now, and I'd be making good money, rather than being broke, unemployed, and having no specialized training to make me a highly desired candidate for any sort of job. :duh:

The IQ test is BS. Different tests will give you different numbers, there is no universal IQ test, they are all different. I took a few of them and got all different numbers, and come on, how can Bush get like a 120?

IQ is a bullshit test, no validity at all due to many variables which arent considered at all.
